Wedding Day Timeline

Hi everyone!  I'm getting married in October at Gannon's and I was wondering what everyone's wedding day time-line is.  I want to be able to take pictures at sunset which is at 6:01 P.M.  Has anyone gotten married here or will marry in South Maui and will be taking pictures at sunset?  What time did you start your ceremony and what time did you start your reception.  Any advice will be very helpful!  Also, how long did your cocktail hour last?

Hi Jayne! Congrats on your upcoming wedding!

We're also getting married in October, but at Makena Cove. My WC has suggested that our ceremony take place at 4:30 PM so our photographer has enough time to take beautiful sunset pics with us. The sun will set at 6:10 PM on the day of our wedding. We're also doing cake cutting and toasting at the beach, so that will take place after the ceremony itself, and then we'll get into the whole photography session with the wedding party, family, and of course, with just the bride and groom. That's expected to begin around 5 PM and go on till about 6:30 or beyond. I'm currently talking to Sarento's to make dinner reservations for our party around 6:30, so while the bride and groom are getting their sunset shots taken, the guests can start their cocktail hour without us. I hope that gives you some insight.. good luck!

You will love Gannon's. I got married there on 10.01.10 at the look out point.  My wedding started at 5pm so it was still sunny.  After the wedding we did group pictures and the sun was started to set.  We then went to a local beach about 545pm to take more pictures which were at sun set.  I recommend doing the ceremony before the sun sets because then your able to get great pictures before and then some with the sun set.  I will post my pictures in the next couple of days.  My ceremony was at 5pm. Reception(dinner) started at 6pm.  It really didn't start until about 7 that when we got back from the beach taking our pictures. So you could have cocktail from 6 to 7 that gives you time to take all the pictures you want.

I am also getting married in south Maui in early Oct next year, and my WC thought that 4pm would be a good time to start, that way we can have time to do cake cutting/toasts, take photos, and then be ready for sunset photos at 6pm. Our dinner will start around 6:30, and then we'll carry on till 10pm when the restaurant closes.

I think it will depend how quickly your ceremony will be, plus how many photo's you want with guests or your bridal party before the sun sets.

Would anyone mind posting their wedding day timeline? Like for example this is kinda of we are thinking for our wedding in January.

Ceremony starts ay 4pm

Family pictures from 4:30-5pm

Couple pictures from 5-6pm

Cocktail hour from 6-7pm

Reception from 7-9pm

This issue actually came up because my photographer asked about it.

I am just kinda wondering if my timeline is reasonable or even how flexible Now Sapphire is with the timeline?

I'm at Now jade next year - i actually really like this timing. then you get to go to the cocktail hour and reception is three hours with Now Jade and Now Sapphire so yours would be 7 - 10

I had a timeline which I basically made up and estimated the times. Thank goodness I didn't print it. I saw this post & decided to run it past my WC. Quite different. As soon as I find the email, I'll post mine.

@@1BeachBride, @@jayejayelynn Remember to keep in mind sunset times also. Couple pictures from 5-6pm is perfect timing for sunset pictures in late January. If that's important to you, here is the website we used http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/astronomy.html?n=923. That does give your guests an hour to go back to their room, get a sweater, get a drink, or even just freshen up a lil. And it gives the staff of Now Sapphire time to setup the chairs from the ceremony site to the cocktail hour/reception site. It would have cost us SO much more if we had to request chairs for the reception and ceremony site. This is way cheaper! :) Hope that helps :)

Happy Planning,

Kristen.
