My FI and i have actually been to the PPC. I have travelled a lot and have honestly never been to a resort more beautiful then this one! It was an easy decision for us. We considered other resorts and even looked at PPR but even looking at all the other pics we still werent sold on anything else. The PPC also seems to have better rates so that helps for your guests and for you

I dont have all the info since i am still piecing things together but if you are not happy with any of the packages that come "pre-made" then the extras can start to add up.

They usually include a bouquet for you which is usually just white or ivory roses and a matching boutoniere for the groom so if you want any other flowers and flowers for the rest of the wedding party then that costs more. Most of these packages dont have centre pieces on the tables. They also sometimes limit the type of alcohol that will be available. I am having my reception on the beach but if i wanted to privatize a restaurant then there are costs for that as well. It really depends what you are looking for i guess. If you have under 24 guests and you are ok with the packages they provide as-is then you wont have to worry about extra expenses

Thanks Janet!  I know you can privatize a restaurant for a reception (which is read is pretty expensive) but does anyone know if you can have your ceremony and then just have dinner with your wedding party and guests at one of the restaurants without it being like a formal reception, like with decorations, DJ, etc..??  I have read so many of these threads and I thought I remember reading that someone did that before, but maybe they were a small group...

I am thinking to do that. I am choosing the fantasy package with the cocktail hour and then go to one of the restaurant in PPC (is an all inclusive resort, why to pay for more food is it is already included). I asked and you can make a reservation in one of the restaurant, off course it wouldn't be privatize. It depends on what you want, if you are looking for something relax or low in cost I think that is a good idea. You don't have to stick to traditional rules.

 

Anyway I am asking the prizes to privatize a restaurant. I will post that as soon as I get the info.

OK great thanks!  I like the idea of a reception but we want to keep the cost down and just do something simple and not stressful.  Thats kinda why we are not having a wedding and recpeption at home, so it kind of defeats the purpose if we have one down there. 

I have not been to PPC does anyone have any recommendations for a restaurant that would be good for post wedding dinner? Or descriptions/photos??

1) No clue. sorry!

2) I had my wedding at PPC last October and I saw the YHI Spa.  They have a private pool with cabanas, which is probably the area you'd be renting out.  It's beautiful!  If it's worth the $200/hour plus food, go for it-- you probably won't be disappointed.  I'm not sure what the plan B is in case of rain. Perhaps there is an empty cabana that they'd put the tables in?  You'd have to ask Mayra.  But if it's a good day to be outside, there's plenty of room around the pool. (so nice!) 

 

If you didn't want to pay for a private lunch at the Spa, another option is to simply show up at one of the restaurants with your crew.  They're super accommodating to guests.  Of course, they're going to want to sell you as much as they can and tell you that you can't reserve for so many people (when I was there the restaurants didn't take any reservations at, but it was never a problem), but everything is already paid for, so if you don't mind not having a privatized event, eating at the restaurants is a great option.  Then you can take the trolley down to the Spa for your appointments.  Just book early!  I didn't book early enough and another bride with 8 bridesmaids took all the availability!  They were great and accommodated me and my mom anyway, but I suggest booking early to avoid any anxiety-- oh, and bring pictures for your hair-do.  Good luck!

You can always have your dinner reception at one of the hotel restaurants without it being privatized. You will have to speak with the resort and ask them if there are specific restaurants that would be able to accommodate a bigger group. I think that would be your biggest concern. Since you will know your wedding date well in advance of your trip, I'm sure you'd be able to make the arrangements to have a few tables reserved for your party and this wouldn't cost extra as they're not privatizing. If your party is bigger than just a few tables, I'm sure they'd be able to accommodate that if it's booked well in advance!

 

You can also always add a little extra flair to your area of the restaurant, even if it's not private, by having someone in your party set up before hand, you know, little things like DIY center pieces or little favors on the plates
