So excited. I just ordered glass bottles, sand and shells for DIY message in a bottle invites.

We are skipping the whole STD thing and going straight with invitations to get the most information to people as soon as possible.

We are renting a villa, or two, in Costa Rica, and need to find out how many people are on board for sure, so we know how many villas to rent for the week of Nov. 13-20,2011.

I know it's early to send out full invites, but we think it is the best way to get the info to people so that they can start saving and planning their trip.

Closer to the wedding, we will send something else out to everyone, maybe a brochure or newsletter-type mail out.

Anybody else send their invites right away?

We are doing message in a bottles for the actual wedding invitation, with passports full of information on Costa Rica, Manuel Antonio (the area we are staying), the main villa (Casa de la Brisas), other villas nearby, activities, etc. as well as boarding passes for the reply cards.

Got the idea from another BDW bride a while ago and am so excited to start planning. All I have to figure out now are the boxes...

Ok since I'm getting antsy for the wedding all I keep doing is thinking about getting married with just immediate fam in Italy or Paris like I always dreamed of and then having two completely informal AHR's in NY and FL.

I know, I'm nuts, but after all the drama we pushed it back soooo far, I keep getting these crazy thoughts of wanting to do that lol

Hey Amanda + Dave,

I did message in a bottle invitations as well. Take a look at my thread Beachy message in a bottle wedding invitations. My wedding is 10/8/11 and i'm sending out my invitations the 3rd week of this month. Reason being is because the prices will become available the first week of october, for my october wedding next year. I figured the earlier the better because guest can book ASAP to get the best deal and have time to save as well.

Hi DiamondGirl

I have seen your invitations before, one of the many on this site that have inspired me.

I totally agree with you, we are getting married in November 2011, but want to get everything to guests ASAP so they can start saving. It's also nice to have a clear idea of how many people are coming, that way any future planning, or DIYing, will be for the right amount of people.

I ordered the bottles from Sandblast Entertainment, www.sandartsupplies.com. Prices were very reasonable, but the shipping is nuts. Shipping was $2 more than my entire order, but the FI said to go ahead and order from there. We couldn't find any local suppliers.

They also sell shells, sand and other materials you may need. I am going to get the rest probably from Michaels.

I purchased my bottles at bottlemeamessage.com They were the most reasonable and I bought the whole kit which includes glass bottles, sand, seashells, corks, parchment paper to print invitations and mailing boxes. They'll print the invitations for you for a small fee. I had my invitations printed and purchased response cards and had them printed as well. All I had to do was put everything together and my invites are all ready to ship. Saved $, time and it was no hassle.

I forgot to mention that if you don't want to pay extra to get the invitations printed, you can print them yourself. It's easy to do, but I didn't want to bother with it since my schedule is pretty hectic with work and everyday life. LOL

I am doing everything myself. Wedding isn't for a year and a bit, so I have plenty of time to work on these.

I am excited to get everything.

Bought a rotary cutter today, and a corner rounder (but it was the wrong one and I have to return).

All I need now is paper and some raffia to tie the messages.

I started working on my passports as well. Using Adobe Indesign, as I am very familiar with the program (I work for a newspaper and we use the program to layout all our pages).
