I am a little late. Went out of town but we can discuss Hunger Games now and start the new book for the month.

So how did everyone enjoy Hunger Games? I hear a lot that people are surprised they liked it. It's usually  a different genre than people are use too. I love the series and can't wait for the movie!!!!

I too was thrilled with the series and the recommendation!  Will be interesting to see how the movie pans out and how they depict the arena and the capital.  Not sure what I expected District 13 to look like, but it was definitely not the way it was portrayed in the book with strict rules/boundaries/etc.  Was happy that they portrayed some of the players in the arena with "humanity", in that they were not all ready to just toss their "humanity" away and go straight for the killing...  The shocking death of Prim, was definitely a tear jerker moment.  Was happy that Katniss picked Peeta (finally).  Thanks for the introduction to this fantastic series that I couldn't put down...love BDW! :)

So happy I found this thread! What a great way to get back into BDW! I'm an old-timer and still a little confused by the new format, lol. I didn't realize that they were making a movie (series)! I was happy to read that Suzanne Collins would be co-writing the screenplay! I first found this series recommended by Stephenie Meyer somewhere. They really are consuming and don't feel YA. Of the three, I think I liked the first book best. I felt the most connection to the characters though it may be because this was the introduction to the series and Ms. Collins did such a great job of laying the foundation. The final book was my least favorite. I was shocked (and teary) when Prim and the other children were killed. I also felt that Katniss had an almost desperate bordering on whiny-ness about her. I was not surprised that she ended up with Peeta. Gale says that she will end up with the one she cannot survive without. Because Gale has sort of "found himself" by the end of the novel, I think she realizes that he can live without her. There would always be a question in their relationship and after so much loss, I think she was seeking stability. Peeta also had been through the same experiences with the Hunger Games that no other person could ever fully understand.

I really enjoyed the series! My favorites were the first two. The third was a little slow for me, but I still enjoyed it. I was so torn between Peeta and Gale, but in the end I was happy that her and Peeta were together. When she talked about feeling her baby move in her belly...ugh...tears! This series certainly lived up to the hype!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
