Invites vs. Announcements

I sooo know how you feel, but how do you all know who is coming? Did people let you know right away after the STD went out? We are planning a quick DW with only 4 mo notice. We also have alot of friends & relatives that would probably not come, but I want them to know they are welcome. Our entire list of potential invitees is only around 90 people. Although we dont want more than about 35 people. About 15 are certain right now.

For us, word of mouth trickled in over 6 months or so. Since you are on a tight time frame, you could just send out invitations (skip the STDs) and have a reply by date of about a month before the wedding?

We did do the Save The Dates as soon as we set the date and confirmed stuff with the hotel. Mostly everybody who is coming has made their reservations. We are leaning towards invites for those who are coming and then a nicer announcement for everybody else. Thanks for all the advice girls.
