WHERE TO START

me and my finace decided months ago after we got engaged that we wanted to do a destination wedding! its been a ou 4 months since we got engaged and i just dont know where to begin. i dont know who to contact ( the resorts or a travel agent ). Does anyone have a check list that i can use lol

Welcome!  Travel agents can assist with guidance on picking a location and will also be able to get you rates on different destinations.

Welcome to the forum and congrats on your engagement!! Personally, I think selecting the location/resort was the hardest part of the process. I would recommend putting together a list of what you are looking for/what's important to you. For example - a few of the things we wanted were a family friendly resort, a beautiful beach for the ceremony, and not too long a flight to get there. But someone else may want an adults only resort....or to get married up in the cliffs, etc. Once you make your list, I would suggest finding a great TA. There's a link up at the top of this site to help you find a TA that specializes in DW's, or you can ask some of the girls on this forum for recommendations as well. I have a fabulous TA and she has made the process so much easier for me.But based on the list you make, and the budget you are looking to stay within, a good TA will be able to help guide you thru the process of selecting the resort and then making our reservations. After that you can start searching this forum for more info on things like a photographer, dresses, invitations, etc.

The hardest part I thing it is to find the right hotel for you. I think that Riviera is an excellent option. I love the place!

After that start with photogs, dress, invitations, as hockey said.

Congrats and welcome!!  I agree with hockeymom97...it all gets easier after picking the location/resort.

 

Do you have your top locations narrowed down?  You could always post them on here and ask people to share their thoughts.  This forum helped me tremendously in narrowing down my options.

I think you should first start to choose the DW. It then all gets easier after picking the right location/resort. Have you thought about the Riviera maya?
One of the best things about Riviera Maya is the fact that you can get everything you dream, and it goes from the simplest things, up to the most elaborated...

Congrats and Welcome.  I thankfully turned to this site for some advice first.  I have just been reading through the forums and taking notes.... I am going to go see a TA next week to see what they suggest.  I will let you know how that go's.
