New Dreams Tulum Bride

Hey everyone!

I joined this site to hopefully help me in my planning of our destination wedding! We have booked May 2, 2011 at Dreams Tulum.

It is a bit nerve wracking to be planning something that is in another country, but I hope it will all come together in the end.

We are having some difficulty in picking the time of ceremony.  I had originally picked 3:30 pm time for ceremony but am not sure if this will be too hot for this time of year.  Would others recommend having it at 5:00 pm?

That just seems late for me, as most weddings in Canada are around 3- 4 pm.  Any insight would be much appreciated!

Welcome to the site! You will love it - its been so helpful for so many of us.

2 suggestions for timing...1 is look up when the sun sets in your destination that time of year. I believe there have been sites posted on the forum or google it. From there you can figure out when you want your ceremony and pictures. 2 is to talk to your photographer. Ours was very helpful in thinking through the agenda for the the afternoon (getting ready pix, ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner, etc.) Since they are the experts its good to consult them.

Congrats and welcome to the forum! I'm arriving at DT on your wedding day! My wedding is May 6, our ceremony time was 5:00 but I changed it to 4:30 just so I can have a little extra time for pictures and I want to start our reception a 1/2 hour earlier and we're extending it by 1 hour so we can have more party time!

Hi Talana!

Congratulations!!! Just as a personal opinion I will suggest 5 or 5:30 pm. In May the sunset is around 7:20pm, so even if you do your ceremony at 5:30 you will still have plenty of time for bride and groom pictures from 6:00pm to 7:00pm and then that will be a perfect time to start your reception.

We are actually doing the wedding decor for a bride there in a couple of months... I will let you know how it goes.

Happy planning!

Fernanda
