Saratoga Springs NY?

My fiance and I are in the process of searching somewhat close destinations for our wedding.  We are both from NYC.  We contemplated Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, Rhode Island and Maine, but for some reason or another, they never worked out.  We recently checked out places in Lake George and Saratoga Springs.  We both agreed on a venue - Saratoga National Golf Course.  However, now I am getting cold feet in the destination department.  Part of me thinks that Saratoga Springs is a somewhat "random" location for a destination wedding.  Plus, I'm not really familiar with the area.  Has anyone had their destination wedding in or around Saratoga Springs, or in Lake George....or have you been to a wedding in either of these locations....or have you even ever been on vacation to Saratoga Springs? If so, what's the appeal?

Thank you!!

I live in Saratoga Springs, NY....actually right down the Street from Saratoga National. I have been there a handful of times for different events (no weddings) bridal shower brunch, office x-mas parties, dinners, and the bar a few times.  you will love it!!! Please feel free to ask me any questions regarding the venue, and just Stogy itself as it really is a beautiful town.

When are you planning your wedding?

I used to live in Saratoga and STBmrsroberts is correct, it is a beautiful town.  I used to live Lake George too, for that matter.  Saratoga is a bit more classy in my opinion, though they are both have big tourist draws.

When are you planning the wedding for?  If you're shooting for summertime, you should be aware of track season, which runs for 6 weeks from the end of July through Labor Day.  Prices skyrocket and hotels book up WAY in advance.  People even rent their houses out and can make thousands of dollars a week.  It's crazy!

There are a ton of great resturants in Saratoga so you won't have a problem finding a place for your rehersal dinner and many good hotels for your guests to stay.
