PLEASE HELP!!!STD / Invitation Sticky Situation

Recommended Posts

OK, so my fiance and I originally thought that we were having a wedding in early may 2011 in our hometown. But about three weeks ago we came across the perfect oppertunity to have a destination wedding in Fl, but in March 2011. So, the conflict is that we already sent out save the dates for the may wedding (which we are keeping the date for but transforming it into the at home reception), and now need to send the destination STDs! The reason we sent STD out so early for the at home wedding was that many of our guests were out of towners anyways. For the destination wedding we are only have a tight group of family and our closests friends. The at home reception is going to have everyone AND show the entire ceremony video to make everyone feel included....

ANYWAYS......

How do I tell people that we are changing our wedding CEREMONY plans? and how do I word the STDs now for the destination wedding to make it clear that it is for the CEREMONY only and a small intimate dinner afterwords (and fun in the sun) while we are KEEPING the original date for the at home reception?

THANKS!!

Oooo...that' tricky. Since you say the destination wedding will be for only the closet family and friends, maybe talk to them directly. As for the wording..."We're getting married in....! Hope you can join us for our special day and some fun in the sun. And if you're not able, don't worry we're still having a small reception at home on May..., 2011." Good luck.

Ohh your steph and kev!  We are Stephnkel haha.....anyways I would be honest and say that you guys decided to do a private cemonony on the beach yet you want to celebrate it with everyone at a reception!  Focus on what they can go to, not what they can't go to!  Get them excited about your wedding celebration as a reception party.  Then you can work on cermony DW stfuff with close friends and family seperatly!

Good luck!
