I'm about to book LUXE for my destination wedding and would love feedback!

I have read a few negative and positive things about Luxe and I'm complely confused. Were looking to get married at an all inclusive resort with approximately 40 friends and family. I have looked and looked and it is so hard to find the perfect place that is beautiful yet affordable. I thought if I hire Luxe then they could take some of the stress away... then I started reading some reviews and became even more stressed. I understand that most 5 star resorts have their own WC and packages so do I even need an outside WC?? Any help or suggestions would be VERY much appreciated.

I think it depends a lot on where you choose to get married and what you plan to do.  For a lot of the places people on this forum are going, the location WC can and will take care of most details.  Other places, you may need the services of a separate planner.

I looked into Luxe before we decided on our location... and if I were to be completely honest, I would say their services are overpriced for a person having their wedding at an all-inclusive resort.  At an all inclusive, your food/drinks, venue, flowers, ceremony are already taken care of by someone so it seems like overkill to pay someone so much to take care of the few things that are left.

My suggestion (which is working very well for me!) is to contact a good travel agent (the ones on this forum are terrific) to help you decide on a location first.  Once you have the location, you can then decide if you really need to hire a separate wedding planner or not.

Hope that helps!  If you are in Canada, I'd recommend TA Becky (on this forum).  I've been working with her and couldn't ask for anyone better :)

Hi Debbie,

I heard of LUXE through a friend of ours who is also having a destination wedding this coming October/2010 in Aruba and they are using LUXE to "help" plan and book their guests.  To be honest, there has been nothing but stress and headaches from what the bride tells me and she's more stressed chasing LUXE around to respond to all her guests emails/phone calls.  They had a bit of turnover and handoffs so it was really hard to know who our contact person was.  They had multiple issues with confusion about the bookings and final payment, etc. Due to this and other bad reviews I read I chose not to use LUXE!

I do have to agree with cookie, that using a really good TA is no cost and FREE.  However, what I found in doing all my research for quotes is that regular TA's don't care and don't follow up.  Even going through a "Groups specialist" they don't' seem to care for the business or the bride, despite my group being about 80 people!  Thankfully there is WEDDINGS BY OCEANS!!! (plug plug!)  They've helped me TREMENDOUSLY throughout my ordeals with seat shortages on my flight and better yet they are FREE!!!  They do also offer extended WC services at an additional cost, but in terms of helping you decide on a perfect location, hotel and package - I'd highly recommend them!!   I'm working with Megan (the owner) and Ashley (who's about to go on matleave) - they're both great and you can say Jamielyn referred you!! :)

good luck!

  • 2 weeks later...

I've been using Luxe since April.  I'm very busy and planning on having @ 60 guests at my wedding. I'm relieved that they are managing my guest reservations and even can help them with flights. I did do my own research for the hotel as I was asking for a tall order ..a boutique all inclusive hotel for under $200 a night per guest.  They will give you a list of hotels that fit your criteria but, It's best that you contact the hotel yourself and negotiate. They use a  3rd party travel agency that negotiate on your max price, and not fight for the best deal ( got rates for $175 a night pp). As for after finding the hotel, they assign you to a wedding coordinator that works with the hotel coordinator. Sound redundant, but the Luxe coordinator helps you book outside photographers, or any other outside vendors, reviews any packages that the hotel offers to make sure it's cost effective for you. Mostly for me is that I'm able to send a list of things that I would like done, Luxe gets the answers and also gives me suggestions. Like I said I don't really have the time, but I have a clear idea of what I want. The prices that Luxe list on their website can always be discounted ( I got $1K off).

I would suggest them if you don't have time to deal with 40 reservations and questions that come from it.  If you have a detailed wedding vision, and are looking for security in the fact that they can book you at another hotel if a natural event renders your hotel unusable.   I hope this helps.
