Airport Transfers to Hotels

Recommended Posts

Hello!

I was just wondering if anyone had any experience with the airport transfers that are provided by the resorts?  I am getting married in October at the El Dorado Royale and included in the price of the room was a round trip hotel to airport shuttle.  From what they described, it is a 12 person van that picks you up at the airport that stops at various resorts along the way to your destination, but if the majority were going to one resort, than that is the first destination.  Just wondering if other brides could offer any advice on whether to hire a private transfer or rely on what the hotel offers?  Or any experiences that people are willing to share?  Thank you :)

HI!

I was on vacation to Cancun in June and I used the shuttle service provided at the airport.....http://www.cancunshuttle.com/   we used the private service and it was about 50 for the two of us round trip......i reserved it a couple days before i left........after traveleing long hours the last thing you want to do is sit in a van with other passengers and wait until they get dropped off before you get dropped off......also, you might have to wait for all the passengers to arrive once you land before the van can even take off..........i just liked knowing that i was getting dropped off at the resort with no stops........check them out! they have good prices!

I used one of those transfer services to stay at Aventura Spa Palace back in Nov.  The majority of the people in our van were staying at ASP (two couples everyone else was other various resorts).  We had to wait for everyone to show up (7 total if I am remember correctly) for about 30-45 mins.  We ended up being the last stop since our resort was the farthest away.  It was a little annoying as our resort was already an 1+ drive and to make the stops added on about an hour and a half.  Plus we were really antsy to get our of cold weather clothes and get a tan so it probably made it seem longer.  On the way back we had to leave a minimum of 4 hours early to accommodate any stops or traffic on the way to the airport.

I don't know the cost to set up your own shuttle but it might be worth it especially if you are further down in the Rivera Maya b/c that means more potential stops.  Additionally, I get motion sickness very easily and with the driver whipping around to stop at each resort, I was starting to feel a bit ill.

For my wedding we are at Moon Palace which is located very close to the airport so it should be the first stop.  However, I may just get a taxi if I have to wait for the van to fill up again.  The taxi drive is less than 15 mins so it doesn't make sense to wait for 30+ mins at the airport.

My WC also does transfers, she quoted me $12 round trip from airport to hotel in Cancun proper.  Guests can also go to her website and sign up on a private link and pay through paypal ahead of time.  This worked the best for us...the last thing you want after a long flight is a long sweaty van ride making multiple stops.
