Engaged!! And on cloud nine :)

Hi all!  This is my first time at this site, or any wedding site for that matter.  I got engaged earlier this week to my boyfriend of 6+ years, we had talked about getting married and he suggested waiting until I graduated medical school and I agreed.  The sneaky son of a gun was just trying to throw me off the trail, really he bought the ring 4 MONTHS AGO and has been keeping it a secret since. 

 

We are vacationing at my family lake home in Minnesota, a place with huge emotional significance for me, so he wanted to do it here where my whole family could be here to celebrate.  When he proposed I was drinking a coronoa and in my bikini on the dock   Low key, intimate, totally us!  He even had my Dad smuggle the ring out the week before so there was no risk of finding it when we traveled together  

 

Bottom line, couldn't be happier and SO excited to plan my wedding and future with this wonderful man! All we have decided so far is a wedding at a resort, want to get married outside.  Some ideas we are throwing around are a lodge in Colorado on a lake and nestled in the mountains, vineyard in napa valley, or beach wedding in mexcio.  NO clue where to start but excited be here!!

Congrats!!  My boyfriend and I were together 6+ years before getting engaged too, so we could get our "grown-up" lives in line.  So worth the wait!!

Congrats! My FI and I have been together almost 6yrs too. The good thing about that is that there shouldn't be many surprises. After that long, you pretty much know what you're getting! Also, the great thing about deciding to do a DW is that you have the whole world to choose from! So exciting! Happy planning
