Just wondering about wedding insurance... is it really necessary? We are planning on having about 20 guests, does the 'wedding insurance' cover their airfare/accommodation package if the wedding gets cancelled or changed to another date for some reason? Or would that be covered under travel insurance? Thanks any info. will help!

I sell wedding insurance. It only covers yours and your grooms expenses. It will cover your dress if something happens to it. It will pay to re-schedule your wedding day in the event of a hurricane, or if your FI gets called to war. The reasons have to be a good reason for the insurance to pay. Its typically not very expensive. Im not awake yet so i am probably not explaining myself well. let me know if you have any other questions.

  • 2 months later...

I just wanted to bring up this topic again because I am still trying to decide on wedding insurance. Has anyone used WedSafe insurance? The policy would cover things like the dress, rings, vendors, cancellation due to weather, etc.

I'm not sure if the hotel already covers some of these things (I need to contact them again because I still haven't gotten a response). My guess is hopefully they would cover their guests hotel stays in the event of a hurricane or other disaster. (Of course I'm thinking about this since my wedding is in September).

I already have travel insurance through the airline. Am I going overboard to get wedding insurace too? confused.gif

I did a little bit of research on travel insurance using the Consumer Reports website. I read the article and visited the website they recommended called Travel Insurance - InsureMyTrip.com. As you know, travel insurance is available at various prices and may cover cancellation, lost baggage, medical and legal expenses etc. After you decide what options you want insurance for, it can be purchased directly on the website. I included a link to this website in my Pre-Mexico welcome letter.

You know, I'm still figuring that out -- I suppose that there are two kinds now that you mention it -- one for the wedding itself and one for travel. Thanks everyone for giving me your tips and for the clarification. I will look into both of these, and any more suggestions are greatly welcomed. Great idea to include it on the website, too! Thanks -- you are all the best!
