Hi ladies,

I went to see my Naturopathic Doctor today and asked her about the ACV.  She said that it can have benefits, and she does recommend it to some patients, but that it can also be very harsh on your system (especially if you have ulcers or other stomach issues).  Her suggestion for me was to take half a lemon and squeeze the juice into a hot mug of water first thing in the morning and to drink this before breakfast.  This will act as a bit of a liver detox, stimulate my metabolism, and give many of the same benefits as the ACV without being so harsh.  It also clears the skin as part of the liver detox and doesn't taste as bad.

In any case, just thought I would share in case anyone else might have concerns about the ACV, or feel that option might not be suitable for them.  I'm going to try the lemon and see what happens.

Other recommendations included green tea, Fish oil, B6 supplements, a complete probiotic supplement, and lots of fibre.

Oryx - Thanks for letting us know =] I drink green tea daily, so I'm glad to hear the benefits from a specialist. I drink lemon in my water in the mornings too, but does it have to be hot? I usually drink it in cold water, but wonder if it makes a difference what the temperature of the water is.

thanks again!

No problem!  I'm sure everything works differently for everyone, so it's nice to have options.  I'm e-mailing her to ask about whether the cold water works just as well as hot for the lemon water.

Here is what she said about the cold water: It can be either between room temperature or as hot as you can handle. Not cold, however.

She didn't say anything about lime... I'll ask her.

It's funny -- I have one friend who is a Naturopathic Doctor, and my best friend is a Clinical Dietitian.  You'd think I'd have an easy time losing weight by having such good resources and learning everything I need to do and just following it... but knowing what to do and sticking with it are definitely two different things.

I hope everyone has had a good week!  I think I did alright, but camping may have ruined my weigh-in for tomorrow.
