Hi There!

 

We got engaged 2 weeks ago and are planning an April 2011 wedding at Moon Palace - Mayan Riviera. I would love some advice from other brides about what we need to prepare in advance, like necessary paper work.

 

Here's the rundown of the events we're looking at attending:

Engagement Party at Bride's parents

Bridal Shower at Bride's parents

Bachelor Party - LV

Bachelorette Party - NYC

Bridal Shower w/ Bride's Friends

DW

Finally, AHR - which I really want to keep low cost.

 

I'm going to have to start praying each night to keep the costs low.

 

Also looking for suggestions on flying from Buffalo. Is it necessary to have a TA?

Welcome! You will be surprised when you start shopping for prices out of Toronto area. We found that depending on the resorts, it was cheaper out of Toronto, than Buffalo. Personally having a TA has been an advantage to us. They managed to get us a great group rate, and we couldn't have done that ourselves. Plus they deal with booking all your guests, not you, so personally I think less stress. We used Weddings By Oceans, who do nothing but destination weddings. They are local in Richmond Hill.

welcome3.gif and congrats on your engagement! The Moon Palace is gorgeous and the weather then should be awesome. We are down to shoot a couple of weddings in April and can't wait! Sounds like you have lots of fun events planned.

 

For the AHR, a couple of ideas for keeping costs low is to do a champagne & cake reception, rather than trying to feed everyone. You can either do an afternoon type thing or like a Friday night starting at 8:00/8:30 or so (so no one expects dinner), then get a band or dj and have a party. Just a couple of thoughts! :)
