Invitation Timeline??

Recommended Posts

I did an engagement announcement which had at the bottom "March 2012 Destination Wedding is Planned" this was in Oct 2010. I figured that would give a rough estimate on the date since we didn't have a resort or date picked yet - only the month/year. I plan on doing invites which will include both the Mexico wedding and an AHR invite (which is being held in a different state than where we live). I'm hoping to get this out by Sept 2011 with an RSVP time of Jan 2012 so we know the numbers both in Mexico and for the AHR.

Planning everything from far away is proving difficult!

I am between sending save the dates and invitations or just invitations? Please help... Having a destination wedding and seem to think save the dates are a waste of money if I can send the invitation out a year in advance? Please brides or further brides please let me know what you think and what you are doing?

Maybe you can create a STD electronically (i have seen a lot of them lately) that way you save money. I do not think invitations should go out a year in advance since people tend to forget to rsvp if its too early.. then you will have to remind them. I believe the earliest you can send out an invitation is 4 months in advance and give them a month to rsvp? thats my opinion :)

From what I have been reading its 8-12 months for the STD and 4-6 months for the invitation it self.
This is what we are doing. Our wedding is April 2014 and we sent the Save the Date 12 months in advance and out invitations will go out in late Oct (at 6 months) as we want to get them out before the holidays.

We are getting married April 2014 and my STD went out 2 weeks ago. I'm thinking about sending invites in January, after the holiday madness. 😄. We are also doing a AHR in May and I found some cheap STD on vistaprint for that as well!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
