i agree with others:

 

1. hotel

2. book the date she wants

3. then send out save the dates!

 

 

but that doesn't mean you can't be looking at ideas with her for save the date cards while she looks. she should probably also go get engagement photos done if she wants them so she can include them in her STDs.

She is so lucky to have such a great friend.  My advice is to book the hotel for the wedding before she gets save the date cards.  Finding the right resort is the hardest part.  I ended up wanting to change resorts after I had ordered save the date cards and the original date was not available, so I had to include a "change the date" card with my save the date.  Something to avoid if at all possible!
