Awww I'm so sorry!  That sounds awful, but you do have a few options.  When something like this has happened to me in the past (although not anything as important as a wedding dress), I bring along someone assertive when I need some support confronting someone.  When you're the victim, it's hard not to be emotional, and you need someone to stick to the facts and make sure you aren't taken advantage of.  Can your mom or a close friend go with you?  Most everyone has a friend that's good at these things, and it's always nice to have their support.  You totally deserve a discount and free alterations.  Just be sure the sample is in goof condition.  If it's not, I know you will find something that makes you feel even more beautiful than the first dress.  Hang in there!

I have a girl frined that is super tiny and the woman told her to buy 3 sizes bigger than her size....I have no idea why and she had alterations and the dress looked amazing!!

She paied more for the alterations than the dress but oh well.

I would have the shop pay for them and have the dress you love.  Also have them clean it.,

Good luck

I agree with many of the other girls, go back to the store and try it on again. If you are still in love, perhaps there is another bridal salon in the area that has the correct size? And if not, seamstresses are amazing and can make almost anything work! Just be polite, ask for a discount since it's not a new dress and make sure they cover the cost of alterations and cleaning.

Good luck.

That really sucks, ugh!  You should definitely go down and talk to the bridal shop in person.  While it isn't their fault that the factory shut down they are somewhat responsible since they chose to carry their dresses, so you definitely deserve compensation.  Try not to be hysterical when talking to them (though I know I'd be in tears) but people who put up a fuss generally get better service.

I'm so sorry you have to go through this!! :o(   Having said that, I feel like sample dresses are discounted..period.  I have never heard of someone buying a sample dress at full price.  I would definitely fight for everything you can!  I agree with the girls that some seamstresses are unreal with how they can alter dresses to fit perfect.  Good luck, and please let us know how you make out!!!

Girls, thank you so much for all your wonderful advice.   I went shopping to see if I can find another dress (from a different bridal shop) and I couldn't believe my luck.  I found another dress that I LOVE even more than the original I purchased.   The new bridal shop understands my situation and have put a rush order on my new dress.

This all happened right before the long weekend here so I have to wait until Tues to talk with the Bridal shop I bought the dress.  I'm going to be asking for a full refund because they couldn't deliver the dress - yes it was the factory that closed and I can't blame the bridal shop BUT my "contract" was with the bridal shop, not the factory.  If they can't give me the dress then I feel I am entitled to a full refund.  I only hope I can get the owner to agree with me.

I will let you know how it goes though.
