Bridesmaids Dropping by the Day

I am really upset, and to the point of tears right now... I had 5 bridesmaids to start, one by one they are calling and saying they can't go.

One is having court issues with her boyfriends kids (they might be getting custody) so I really understand that because that is really life changing. FI's niece backed out because as most of you know hardly any of his family is going, so another one down... And now my very best friend just called to say that she can't go... I feel like crying... I am down to 2 bridesmaids.

At what point do you just say, it's not worth it anymore, and give up on your dream DW wedding...

Oh that sucks! I am so sorry.

Think of it this way - at least you still have 2. And even if all your BMs bail on you at least you will still be marrying the man of your dreams. It's hard when people you want at the wedding can't come bc it is a DW, but it doesn't mean they love you any less.

shelley - i'm SO sorry to hear about your BMs...but if a DW is what you want, do it! are you having an AHR? it won't make you feel better now, but maybe it'll help if the other girls can join in some of the festivities...

personally, i'm disappointed at the amount of ppl that won't be attending my DW (these are ppl that i really thought would be there, otherwise i wouldn't care), and am thinking about an AHR - which goes against everything i've ever wanted...

I am SOOOO sorry Shelley! That's really awful and frustrating and sad. That being said, it is definitely NOT a reason to question your decision to have a destination wedding! I don't know anyone as excited as you are about planning a DW and I can't imagine you giving up on that! I can imagine how hard this must be for you, but you have to consider what you and FI want, and also remember all the people that ARE going to make it... don't let this get you down! When things get stressful I just remember that if at the end of the day it's just me and Steve on a beach in Mexico, that's enough for me

Isn't that the rudest shit ever? Like you just told them in June or something, freakin losers. Not just yours, but mine and everyone's who bailed when they should have thought about their answer before saying "of course" from the start.

It doesn't matter though, and you will have your dream wedding because you are marrying your dream man. My closest cousin told me she was going until the week before the wedding when she still hadn't booked then couldn't afford it . . . yeah stupid because what would have been $700 over 8 months is now $1200 due tomorrow . . . I still haven't talked to her. My mom says she's embarassed but you know what? We're all adults and people need to be honest. I would never agree to be in a DW if I knew I couldn't swing it.

It hurts, I know, but it won't ruin your day AT ALL, trust me, you won't miss them when you see your man waiting for you!!

That irks me; she's just discovered now that she doesn't have the money??! That's totally not fair to you. I mean, it's fine if you can't afford it, but why wait until now??

Whatever, you're still marrying the man of your dreams, when all is said and done; that's the most important thing!! wink.gif
