Not the Wedding Planner I Thought She Was

So as soon as I became engaged, I said that I needed a wedding planner only because I had no clue as to what goes into a wedding. I'm not your typical female, I never planned to marry so I had no clue how, and what all goes into, planning one. Newayz...I interviewed a couple and decided on THE ONE. Well THE ONE is coming up completely short of my expectations.

I constantly have to stay on top of her to make sure she communicates with the resort's WC to make sure all of the details are ironed out. I'm paying for her full package, but I'm the one that's doing all of the work. My fiance wants me to fire her because he doesn't want to have to pay for her pkg and travel expenses when she hasn't earned it.

I don't know what to do...I've talked to her about how I feel as though she's not stepping up to the plate and she vowed to do better, but yet in still I'm the one that has designed everything, planned every detail, and making sure that I stay on schedule with everything. So what do I need her for?

It just frustrates me 110%!

oh sweetie. That just sucks. I work as an event planner & my first thought is to let her go. You're paying for her to think for you regarding the wedding. You shouldn't have to pry the information out of her. If I did that, my clients would never use me again!

Thanks, I agree. My FI and I are discussing it this weekend and then go from there. I'm glad someone understands where I'm coming from.

Have your thought about working directly with the planner at the resort and you taking over? I'm with you FI on this one. It's a tough thing to do but I would let her go. I understand you are having a hard time with it but think of it like this...would you pay your stylist if you went into the shop and she washed you hair but made you color, cut and style it yourself?

My guess is NO. With the economy the way it is, this is one less expense and more money for you to put into the wedding or use as you start your new life with your FI. Just something to think about.
