Engagement Party

Can anyone tell me if they had an engagement party? if so did you invite people from your place of work or did you just invite them to your reception/party after your destination wedding?

i only invited people who i invited to the wedding... sort of like an initial meet and greet for everyone

I invited people that will also be invited to the wedding. Although some people that will be attending the party will not be going to the wedding for financial reasons.
