Help selecting wedding venue in Maui!

Hi Everyone!

I'm in the process of selecting a venue for my ceremony & reception in Maui Fall '07, we're expecting around 50 guests. I have a vision of a classic/ elegant wedding. We're looking at ritz-carlton, 4S, hyatt and westin. Also, I'm not interested in incorporating any Hawaiian traditions into the wedding (no offense at all! It's just not my culture & I think a wedding should be reflective of the couple).

I'm seeing a lot of packaged offerings that aren't matching up with my vision. Again I don't mean to be offensive, but they seem tacky & "canned".

Can you offer your opinions of these resorts? As well as general advice?

well you can't go wrong with the 4 seasons...if that was not an option because it is expensive ($600-800 per night) then i would do hyatt.

those are my 2 fav. on maui. I am helping my gf who got engaged at my DW plan a wedding at one of those 2 or grand wailea

A friend of mine got married at the Maui Westin last March and loved it. She said they have a "fabulous sweet" wedding coordinator who arranges everything via email and once you get there. Her name is Tamara Mcgee. Her photographer was Paulo Mendes and she said he was fabulous as well. If you have specific questions about the Westin, I'd be happy to try to put her in contact with you.

hi and welcome

we stayed at the Fairmont last summer and it was amazing.

We also dined at one of the golf courses in Wailea and saw two weddings going on there. Also very beautiful. The Hyatt, Westin and Ritz are all on the Kanapali/Kapalua side which can be very windy, so keep that in mind. After staying on both sides, I definitely prefer Wailea.
