Boys and Spas ...what do you think?

Hi ladies,

While I have been generously treating myself to spa treatments leading up to the wedding, I am wondering more about the guy side...

Here's the thing. My FI is super low key. I am the person who currently cuts his hair! He used to go to Hair Cuttery for like $14 but I decided I could do a better job for free, and so now I do it.

I have kind of been encouraging him to get a nice haircut, shave, pedicure, manicure, massage or just something before the wedding but he is just like ehhhh, whatever.

Do your men like these treatments? Are they worth the $$$? Should I just book him a normal old barber haircut and stop caring, or do you think it's worth it to splurge, especially if he doesn't seem to care? Just looking for some opinions... Thanks!

Janet

My guy totally loves these treaments. I vote spurge on the treatments!!!! He'll be glad that you did... definately include a massage. Sometimes a haircut isn't necessary but the relaxing effects of mani, pedi, facial, and massage are priceless. He deserves to feel fabulous even if he doesn't know it yet.

Let me know what you decidehuh.gif

Janet,

I think that if he is not a metrosexual kind of guy, then all of those treatments will be lost on him. Trust me, I have a FI that is all about the manicure and hair stylist (not barber). He gets his eyebrows waxed! Its funny, because he spends more on those kinds of things than me! I love him though.

Anyways, if your happy with the way he looks, I say keep him that way. But a maicure might not be a bad idea. Think about all the photos the photographer will be taking of the rings.

Hmm.... I have a different opinion than Jenetta. My FI goes to a hair place that is marketed as a men's day spa. They do paraffin waxes in their hands when you get a hair cut, etc... He tells them "no way" on all the frilly stuff. I asked him to try it at least once, and he hated every minute of it. It was just too femenine for him. I have to beg him to let me fix up his nails on his hands once in a while. I honestly think that all the spa treatments may be a waste if he is uncomfortable. Have you asked him how he would feel about them? I honestly wished my FI would get a mani/pedi once in a while, but he flat out refuses to...

Now a massage, I say definitely splurge on that one. You can make it a couples massage to make him more comfortable. My FI is slowly coming around to this.

lol you girls are funny because I totally agree with the idea of "How can you NOT want that stuff" so I guess I just need to figure out if he really would like it but doesn't know it...or if he would not care and I can save my $300 :)

I got him to go to the tanning salon with me last night! Victory Janet! lol

karla (in NC, not TX) -- I think if I really said, "It's important to me that your hands and feet look perfect" he would get the mani/pedi but I dunno about the frilly stuff. But they aren't exactly gross enough that I have made the ultimatum. He did promise to at least make them look nice himself!

And I like your thinking on the massages....

I think the girls pretty much covered it. I think you know if he would enjoy it or not. Cain would enjoy it, in fact we plan on doing a couples massage while in Cabo. So don't waste your money if you don't have to. However I would get him a professional hair cut.

Yeah... I think some guys are more open to it than others. To be honest with you, my FI looks so metrosexual, that I thought he'd be all about it. Especially since he went to the "men's day spa". I come to find out that the REAL reason he likes it is that they hand you a beer when you sit down to get your haircut. Hilarious!

So the couples massage... definitely schedule one. My FI was skeptical, but I've already had him go to 2 with me, AND we have one scheduled during our honeymoon. So slowly but surely, he's up for it :-)

I have a hard time believing ANY guy would turn down a massage! But, as far as the other stuff, it totally depends on the guy. My FI started going to the most expensive salon in town (the Douglas J Day Spa) and getting $65 haircuts (yes, $65 for a men's haircut- I thought I was going to have a heart attack when he told me!). But, he loves that little splurge for himself, with the head massage and hand massage that go along with the haircut. You never know, you might awaken his inner need to be pampered with the mani/pedi massage stuff...
