Shipping things to Jamaica...

Recommended Posts

Before shipping anything, check with Chandlyn to make sure that she will accept the packages and keep them for you til you get there. I'd be a little scared to send stuff down there unless I was positive someone at the resort was in charge of the packages.

There is no way that I would ship anything to Chandalyn. She doesn't seem like she is always on the ball, so I would hate for her to lose all of my stuff. I am lucky though because we have at least 9 other family members that are coming down on the same flight as us, so I can always have them check in some of my OOT stuff. Let me know if you find anything else out about customs. Right now our plan is to label all of our wedding related stuff on the ouside with "wedding supplies." We are also planning on making a detailed sheet of everyone's itinerary. Let me know if you have any other tips. I would hate to get stuck with a bunch of customs fees. I would rather pay the fees though, than have them get lost by shipping them down early.

I'm planning on doing the same thing. I have about 12 of my family on the same flight as us, so I already told them to leave room in their bags for my supplies.

I spoke to someone at UPS that said we could arrange to ship the packages to ourselves and pick them up at the airport, but it cost $200.00 for an 8lb box!!
That is freaking outrageous. $200 for only 8 lbs. What a rip off!!!

I checked all the rates and the only thing reasonable is USPS - but I have no idea if your stuff will make it to Jamaica... I think we're just going to bring everything and take our chances. What's the airport like when you actually fly in? Our resort said to just go through the "nothing to declare" line and your good. I've never flown into Jamaica... is it like Mexico with the green and red button to determine who gets searched?
