Too late?

How late is too late to start planning a destination wedding? We're planning to be married in 7 months and have finally JUST decided that destination is what we want to do. I'm hearing from people that we may not find a location that makes us happy because most people start planning DWs over a year in advance. Is this true? I hope not sad.gif

I'm not sure whether it is too late or not. I think if you are a highly organized person and if you are using a TA and a wedding planner you should be ok on time. It may feel a bit rushed cause you have less time to pull everything together but don't worry I know someone who is doing a DW in 4 months! Good luck and happy planning. I'm sure you'll find lots of neat ideas and tips to pull it all together in time.

I don't think you're too late at all! We started planning a DW a couple weeks ago for the March, which we were told is a super busy time because of Spring Break vacationers, and we were never told that something was already booked or full. Just make your choices and get your travel information out to whoever you are inviting so they have time. As long as you are semi-flexible, I think you'll be just fine and find you made a great choice!

Yes you are not too late. Still time remaining and you can easily manage all things.

We JUST started planning ours, and it's only six months away. I don't think it's too late! You just have to be organized.

No worries at all! Although I knew I wanted to get married in Mexico a year and a half out, the planning process for the actual wedding (not the trip booking stuff) and reception only took me 3 months before the wedding. And I had changed my mind about the location a bunch of times too! 7 months is lots of time in my mind.

Plus, the bride-to-be who is buying my wedding dress, is getting married in September, only 2 months away! and doing a large local wedding at that~

I got engaged in mid-March & got married at Moon Palace last week. It went by fast, but it's definitely possible (& in some ways even better because you don't have all the waiting time). I didn't get my first choice for the time of my wedding (it was at 11am), but as it turned out, I loved having it at that time & everything was perfect. Congrats! And good luck with your planning. You have more than double the time I had--it will be great!

you have more than enough time. I'm seven months away but haven't really done anything except book my room and sent out STD's(2 weeks ago). I've been looking at a bunch of things but since I don't know who's going I can't/won't buy anything now.
