Ok...I'm 78 days away from getting married and starting to think more seriously (and realistically) about getting everything I need to the resort.

For the event I will be bringing...Welcome Bags with goodies (including shirts made with our wedding logo & CD's), parasols & fans for the ceremony, glass sailboat favors...and possibly some other things I haven't quite figured out yet.

My question...

How did everyone get there stuff to the resort?

....Did you bring extra luggage?

....Did you ship it to the resort?

....Ask family and friends to carry some things?

Other question for transporting options if I were to...

Bringing everything with me...

If you carried everything with you, did you have any problems with customs?

Shipping some items...

If you had things shipped to Dreams Tulum, how far in advance did you ship it? How long did it take to get there? Did you feel comfortable shipping? Did Sandra/Landy take care of it?

AND...did you guys have the bellboy deliver the bags to your guests room before they arrived so it would be in their room when they walked in? I saw this as an option in the 'WEDDING GUIDE' for a $2/bag fee (tipping for bellboy). They said I just needed to give them a list of my guests and when they arrived. Did anyone do this?

Any extra info would be great! Thanks for the help!!!

I just remembered something I forgot to put in my review. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but my parents stepped into the chapel one evening before dinner (6pm) and said it was suffocatingly hot, completely unbearable and that there was no way anyone could stay in for a minute, never mind the duration of a wedding cerenmony (even if only 20 minutes long).

So for anyone set on that idea you may want to consider doing your ceremony in the morning when it is less hot (although when I was there last week, so March, it was really hot by 10am!) or during the times of year that is less hot, like the fall or early winter.

I'm surprised this hasn't been mentioned before...

Hi All!

I'm a new member and am glad of all the information available here. I have just started the planning process and this is a really big help. Thanks to everyone for posting valuable information. You guys are a lifesaver. My wedding date is set for Oct.9th at Dreams Tulum and other then booking the date with Landy I have not done anything else. Do I have to start requesting things before I get there or can it all be done when I arrive?

Any advice you can offer will be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Amanda.

One more thing I forgot to mention in my review is that there weren't really any issues of strangers hanging around during my ceremony. As you can see from the resort pictures (in the link in my review) the closest chairs are right next to the seaside grill, a good 30-50 feet away from the gazebo, so anyone who wants to watch takes a seat there. My photographer mentioned I think that there was one couple who walked along the beach during the ceremony, but just one isn't bad. Also there is generally very few people swimming in the ocean behind the gazebo (not sure if there was any during my ceremony). So in all I think it was pretty good, definitely not completely private but not like some of the horror stories I've read in other reviews at other resorts (like strangers taking your guests' favors and helping themselves to cake and champagne!)

Hello Ladies....I have a HUGE dilemma and I am hoping someone can help me!! I have 15 people I am wanting at my wedding and I know are coming however there are several friends and family who are assuming they are coming to our wedding with no invitation. I think they assume its an open invite as my sister was married in Hawaii and hers was an open invitation for all to attend. My fiance and I only want our immediate family in Mexico and we are having a casual reception at home when we return. I need some wording to put on a reception letter/invitation that says we are having a small wedding away and will get together on our return. It has to be assertive enough for everyone to get the hint yet not upset anyone. If anyone has clever ideas for this wording I would really appreciate it!!

I would just talk to or email the people who are interested in coming and let them know it is immediate family only. That way it's crystal clear. I had to do that with a few people. Even though I emailed everybody and told them we were going to mexico "with our parents and sisters" (we were already booked) I still had somebody email and ask if they could come. It's important to be really clear. Nobody's feelings should be hurt since it's not like you are inviting some guests but not others. Immediate family is a good seperation line.

I need some advice ladies...I will be married at Dreams Tulum on the beach and from what I can see in the pictures the chairs, arbor, etc. are all bright white. My wedding dress is an ivory/champagne color. Do you think this will look alright or will my wedding dress just look dirty next to all of that bright white? Any advice/ideas is very appreciated! Thanks!
