PREACH girl!! I have been getting that a lot lately and it can be a bit disheartening but my FI and I have decided that as long as my parents are there, we are not concerned about anyone else. So, sofar there are four, me him, mom and dad (and most importantly GOD) and anyone else will just be a pleasent surprise!

when we first told people we were having a destination wedding - there were a few right off the bat who said they weren't going because 'why would you have a destination wedding that's so selfish', 'Mexico is dirty' or 'it's not safe' now the excuse is 'oh there's the oil spill' - people are going to make up excuses as to why there aren't going - i used to care but in the end just like what Bride Loving CJ said - all that matters is that you and your future husband are there with the people that you care about (in our case - our immediate family)

i didn't think there would be so much drama in having a destination wedding but take everything with a grain of salt. I've calmed down quite a bit since I started planning and keep telling myself 'no one or nothing else matters as long as my fiance and me are happy with what we chose' This is OUR special day ladies! It's okay for us to be a little selfish once in our lives! Don't let anyone or anything ruin it!

Good Luck :)

our families hated the idea after we first got engaged, but i have to say now that the wedding is getting closer, everyone is getting excited about the idea of a whole wedding weekend in mexico. stick with your guns - the people that mean the most to you will still go and you'll have a blast!

It's ridiculous. If people bothered doing any research at all before jumping to these conclusions they would see that there is absolutely nothing to worry about. You're just as at risk at any wedding in any large city in the US, but you don't see people worrying about that.

I've been pretty cool about the whole thing until now. My MOH is considering not going because her husband is worried about violence. Obviously he has no idea what he is talking about, but he is her husband and his opinion is going to matter to her. What can I possibly do to change her mind?

Oie, well so far we've had someone complain about EVERY location we've mentioned!!!

Cuba- the food is horrible, and the conditions are sub-par

Jamaica- even black people don't want to go here (no joke someone said this)

Domican Republic- the service is horrible, and the beaches are dirty

Mexico- what haven't I heard about MX- it's unsafe, it's over priced, the workers are lazy because they get paid to much,

I have heard the worst and nastiest things, I'm about to drop kick the next Negative Nelly that comes my way, it's just so ridiculous that people feel the need to share their BS theories, especially the ones that make me stop and say to myself "wtf you did NOT just say that"

so annoying, but we're still gonna go away :)
