to register or not to register? whats your take?

we dont have a registry for a couple of reasons...FI and I both had our own place before we moved in together so we basically had everything we needed. and i would feel weird registering for gifts when people are traveling so far and spending so much money to come to the wedding.

we addressed the issue on our website by stating that their presence at our wedding was our present. and we know that people will still want to give something so we put something cute like "if you still want to, you can give a donation to our 'new furniture' fund", ie we want cash.

also, my mom and MOH have insisted on throwing me showers (once again i didn't want this since we're having a DW). however, i am registering for this, since no one would give money at a shower and like i said before, we have most of the usual wedding gifts, so we are registering for really nice linens
