Best of Luck! My FI & I would be perfectly content if no one was able to show up. But will also be glad to have anyone that can afford to attend. It is our day as long as we end up happily married that is all that matters.

Enjoy your time together, I ofter hear stories of couples going alone and meeting other couples that had the same plan. You may end up making life long friends on your trip and the most important thing is that you are together.

I think it will be fine because of the AHR.

That was our initial plan (well more FH than me) but the more I thought about it the more I knew I had to have my closest family and friends there...that way I can say I extended the invite now if they can't make it! No Biggie we've always enjoyed each others company anyway and have never had a problem making new friends whereever we go....I say do it and without regret!

I think you should do what you want. If you and FI want it to just be the two of you, then go for it. Lots of ladies on here are in the same boat and having an AHR when they get back. I would have preferred if it was just my parents FI's parents and our siblings but as it is his first (my 2nd) we are having a few extra family and friends (27 guests so far). Its your wedding and like the ladies said you can't please everyone...do what makes you and FI happy.

My situation is a bit different. This is 2nd marriage for both of us. I have 2 sons (21yrs and 17yrs old), he doesn't have any. We haven't even announced our engagement yet as we want to announce it to our entire family at the Holidays. However, we are not sure if it is tacky to ask our family to attend a DW as this is a 2nd marriage for both of us and it will be a financial burden for some. We will for sure be bringing my sons and want our parents there (and will offer to pay for them) but not sure if we should extend the invite. Don't get me wrong, we would both love for our families to share this day (or week) with us, but don't want anyone to feel pressured. Any advice would be much appreciated.

We thought we'd get married late 2011 but thought he would push back to mid 2012 if our families were interested to allow more time to save. Thanks for any replies.

I think it is great that your sons and parents will be there and it is not tacky at all to invite friends and family to a DW because it is you second wedding! Not at all. It is your day and you should invite the people that you would like to have there. I do not think they will feel any pressure to come if they cant make it. Just let everyone know you would love them to come if they are able to but you completely understand if they are not. The main thing is that the most important people will be there. I think giving people at 12 months notice for a DW is fine.

Congratulations on your engagement!

Thanks CamLovesJA,

This has been weighing on my mind and I really appreciate your reply.

Our families are both so important to us and we are crossing our fingers

that they will choose to come. Thanks again.
