Do You Think Your Dress Will Make You Too Hot In The Sun?

Recommended Posts

I'm getting married in January @ 4pm so I'm hoping it won't be too hot. It's not on the beach. It's by the falls. I'll also be changing for the reception. Mine is a big ballroom looking dress. I fell in love with it and can't imagine getting any other dress.

I had the same fear - we are getting married at the RIU Ocho Rios in July and it will be SUPER HOT!

I went to a designer in Toronto who specializes in destination wedding-type dresses (Lowon Pope). No corsets, no heavy layers, just flowy, light dresses. I had my dress designed out of a combo of 2 different dresses so there's no picture but there is no way I could handle a corset in the July heat.

I went with a Paloma Blanca 3802.
I am getting Married in Key West in April with a outside ceremony. Temps are usually 80-90's. I thought having a big dress would make me hot, so we decided to keep the ceremony outside later in the day to avoid the extreme heat and make it short and sweet, then have our reception inside with A/C. Then I am only outside for a bit :). Plus our reception site has plenty of windows to make it not a stuffy ballroom :).
You could always find a shorter dress to change into if you think the heat might get to you, but of course if you are spending a good amount on the dress I wouldnt want to change either :). Once you get dresses on you will have a better ideal of what works and what doesn't, I knew instantly I didnt want a satin dress, they were sooo heavy!!! The raw silk is very light and airy :)
All the best
I also got a silk dress after talking to the woman at the salon. She suggested paying a bit more for the dress so I would be cool. I think she said material like tafeta (sp?) would be the hottest as it doesnt breathe.

Also think about what you are wearing under neath as that could also add to the heat factor. I think I am going to wear a pair of either lace or cotton undies and hopefully no bra...haha

My dress is made of organza. It didn't feel heavy when I tried it on. I'm getting married in November and in the evening so I am hoping it won't be too hot. Also I will be wearing my hair up. But I'm used to hot weather so it'll take a bit before I am too hot.

The bigger tulle dresses are meant to be kinder in the heat as they dont stick to your legs.Looking at what youve picked i think you have found the perfect dress xxx
Yes roo66, I think you're right that we all will be at least a little hot, lol. I don't know why it just seems that I get hotter than everyone else! I pray that sweat is not dripping off my face as I say my vows...I'm not too sure about the parasol idea as I really want to walk down the aisle with a bouquet, not a parasol. Maybe I'll have my MOH next to me hold the parasol to shield me from the sun...

This is the inspiration for the dress that I will be changing into a little bit after the reception starts-
