Any other young brides?

Hey ladies!

I've found myself to be a minority in the fact that I will only be 18 and my fiance will be 20 when we tie the knot...just wanted to see if there were any other young brides around and if so how you're dealing with the constant comments on your age. We aren't letting that damper our spirits, we're excited anyways!

I'm definitely not young compared to you lol! I would try not to take people's comments too personally. I'm sure they have your best interest at heart when they say things. 18 is really young, and when I look back to who I was at that age, its certainly not who I am now. Your family and friends just love you! It doesn't make their comments right, but try to remember how much they care about you :)

I like to think that I am young at 29....but I'm definitely not that young! lol

hehe that's funny!!

It's odd how the age thing works...i'm 32 and just got married and couldn't have imagined marrying anyone else in my past or at any other time in my life...and most of my girlfriends are the same. all my age-ish and just starting to tie the knot now. My youngest girl cousin who is 22 now, got married almost 2 years ago and all of her friends are now getting engaged and getting married too. I'm pretty sure she had all the comments too, but they are married and happy for almost 2 years now. I don't have any advice on dealing with the age comments but only you know if it's truly right and meant to be!

honestly, there's no way in hell i was ready to be married at 18 ... not even close, and most people aren't. but i also have a good friend that was, and did, and is still happy! so it's really a personal thing. but in the end, it's all about what is right for YOU and your FI! good luck, and happy planning!

Agreed! I think back to when I was 17/18 and I am a completely different person now. I grew up so much in college. But, everyone is different. I was not in a serious relationship at that age. Everyone matures at different times. You will probably continue to hear those things, but don't let it get you down. Only you and FI have to know you are doing the right thing at the right time. Good Luck!

I think people will ALWAYS have an opinion about something and at the end of the day, marriage is never guaranteed no matter what age you are. It takes work, and love and any age is capable of both. I've been with my FI for 9 1/2 years since we were 16. I didn't know then I was going to marry him but by 19, I knew someday I definetly would. We will both be 26 when we get married. Live YOUR life, have fun, and as long as you feel he is THE ONE, I say go for it and congrats!

Hello!

I got engaged at 31 and my mom found it was too young! Hahaha!

I think that you have more comments about your age because they want you to be happy and make sure you realize you have plenty of time. But if you know what you want, I would not give too much importance to it as people have always something to say anyway...and you can not please everyone. I learn that in my late 20's so hopefully, you can benefit from that learning earlier in life.

Good luck!
