Stress the week before

Recommended Posts

I have been planning my wedding since May 27, 2009 and I cannot believe I leave for Jamaica IN FOUR DAYS!! Tying the knot June 18th :) This week I have been going crazy trying to take care of any and all loose ends because once I get down there, I don't want to worry about a thing. I've been sooo busy and very moody. Up and down (plus I'm PMSing..sorry TMI!)

My fiance and I have been bickering almost every night this week. He is very laid back and does not care about the details one bit. He gets irritated when I freak out over the details and I get upset because I feel like it's all on me and he does not care! Is this arguing normal the week before?? We rarely fight!

Any last minute advice?? Words to calm me down?! I'm so stressed and high strung right now I can't stand myself.

One word would help for me....WINE. (alot of it!)

hahaha

Ok on the serious side, i can feel your pain eventhough our wedding isnt until august!

But, one of my cousins gave me some good advice as i was overloading myself with tiny details....that was that none of the guests will ever know if there is a minor detail missing. As long as your major stuff is in order, then you need to put it all aside for one day....go out to dinner or something!

DEEP BREATHS.

You are in the home stretch and everything will be ok - if you read through all of the different threads, especially the :What I would and wouldn't do again" one, every bride says they would stress less.

You will be in a beautiful place and getting married no matter what - as long as you have your wedding clothes and a bathing suit, everything else is superfluous.

If you haven't, make a list of what has to get done and just do one at a time and check them off. completing tasks always feels good.

We bickered a lot too right before - my now DH didn't like seeing me so stressed out - that upset him.

Good luck - I know you will have a beautiful wedding - Jamaica is amazing!smile03.gif

Trust me. It works. :)

I felt the same way the week before we left, well actually the week before the week we left. I was getting all stressed out about the little things I wanted to get done and FI reminded me that no one would notice those little things, they'd just be so excited to be there with us. I finally just let it go and realized he was absolutley right. Everyone was thrilled with the bigger things we did (like our mugs and hangover kits - minus the personalized tags that were one of the causes of my stress) and had a great time. Plus I was completely relaxed the whole week. Actually, my wedding day was one of the most stressfree and relaxing days of my entire life!!

If it's seriously causing you to lose sleep...let the details go! It's not worth it!

wuuuussaaa!!!!

you've been planing and planing and FI prob hasn't helped or cared about the details up to this point so he's not gonna start now. just concentrate on the fact that you're day is coming and youre GETTING MARRIED YAY!!!!!! take deep breaths and try to enjoy because all of your hard work is about to pay off in a BIG way. and remember that you've done EVERYTHING you could to make the day amazing, so roll with any little glitches so that you can enjoy being a wifey...easier said than done, but don't stress just have fun!! congrats!

I'm leaving tomorrow and got MOST things done. I did not finish the beaded cake servers, but will just have them for the AHR. My house also isn't as clean as I'd like it to be for our house sitter but OH WELL. I'm letting go of those little things. I'm done, and ready to enjoy it all :)

Hang in there!!!!! Just keep focusing on the big picture - if things can't get done then they just didn't get done. Sometimes you just have to let some things go! Your day will be perfect, just keep in mind that in the end, all that matters is the commitment you two are making to one another!

Have a great time!!!

i feel for you - im the same, my fiance was born in Jamaica although lived in england since 5 years old but he has the jamaican relaxed attitude which can drive me crazy! im dreading the week before but hoping all with be sorted other than the packing and the flying to the island, i agree with one of the other comments have a large glass of wine to relax - you cannot control everything so just go with the flow and enjoy xxx

Slow down...breath...when I start over planning or I get frustrated I go back to this thread which helps me keep things in perspective. Hopefully it can help you realize that in the end something probably will go wrong but the only person that will notice is you. You have planned and planned for you big day and it will be special and memorable. Don't sweat the small stuff, all the big stuff is in place and in the end you will look back and wonder what all the stress was for....here is the thread:

Good luck!
