Not doing an OOT bag?

Recommended Posts

Thanks for your feedback ladies!

We are, for sure, getting gifts for our bridal party. I believe my fiancé will be getting cigars, tequila and I'm not sure what else for his guys. As for the girls, I will be getting them the same jewelry to wear on the wedding day, tank tops for the wedding day as well and other girly things.

I definitely want to get some mugs though for everyone to hand out with the welcome letter. I think it's a nice gesture, plus wouldn't put us over budget!

I agree that most things that are included in the OOT bag, people already bring with them. I know I bring it all when I go down south... and we'll have the restroom baskets for those who don't.

Is everyone carrying their mugs in their luggage or is anyone having them shipped directly to the resort??

I bought all the stuff for OOT bags and everything is ready to go. Now, I have read some recent reviews where the ladies are saying they almost wish they hadn't done them and I'm having second thoughts! so, I may be sellling all my contents soon if I decide to not do them!

We're not doing OOT bags....I had never heard of them before I found this forum. I think the cost for it all, and plus the luggage space needed isn't worth it, at least not for us. We do want to put together hangover kits, as more of a joke than anything. I'm hoping this won't take up too much space in our luggage though! Sure it's a nice gesture but in the end, people aren't coming b/c they are expecting a bag of goodies....things they most likely already brought themselves!

We will be getting favors as a gift to our guests... I feel this is much better than doing the OOT bag for us. We will be getting everyone maracas (I think!) for the place seating... plus, we are thinking about getting some miniature bottles of tequila or mexican hot sauce or something typically mexican... plus, hopefully we can buy it when we get there or have it shipped to the resort (if allowed) and won't have to travel with it all!

Travel mugs are something they'd definitely use!

This is exactly what we are thinking!!
I find the "bubba keg mugs" hold the cold longer than standard mugs, and their different!
Can I ask if you've looked into where you're getting them from? I tried to souce out a promotional company to do them and put artwork on them but they were way out of my price range.
I'm wondering if raiding all WalMarts and Canadian Tire's are betterhuh.gif?

For us it's going to depend on how many people go... we're already sitting at 34, which seams like a lot to carry on.
I'm thinking originally of handing them out before we go, but then I thought maybe not in case someone forgets to pack theirs! or I can't see everyone before we go.
So my next thought was handing them out at the airport...
Still up in the air on that.
I've heard shipping to resorts is very $$$$$

Cheers,

we're not doing OOT bags either - we're already stretching our budget, we figure most people would bring most things we were thinking to put into them.

we don't have a huge amount of ppl going, so we'll probably put together a small hangover kit (maybe).

the baskets you plan to put out are a nice gesture your guests would appreciate.

It's so easy to go over budget with this wedding stuff! you will thank yourself later for not going over on the knick knacks =)

LOl.. Im laughing because I didnt know what they were either but I did plan on giving a little welcome gift.. I wrote a welcome /thank you letter (scroll) that will be delivered inside a small bottle (message in a bottle) along with a bag of silk rose petals(to throw at the ceremony) and some general goodies (minimal).. I wont have that many people attending so I plan on giving them something.....

But I think you def. don't need to go over board....

I am not doing an OOT bag either. I am giving my bridesmaids monogrammed toiletry bags with mini-toiletries and their jewelry for the wedding day but that's it. There is a strict luggage restriction for Montego Bay airport from June to September (our wedding is in July) and I can't pack 47 additional bags for our guests.

I am sending out Jamaica info packages shortly with some ideas about what to do in Ocho Rios, maps of the resort and town etc. and hopefully with keyholder tags if I can find some in Toronto.

Don't feel selfish! I have been to 2 destination weddings (Mexico and Cuba) and have never received an OOT bag!
