Not doing an OOT bag?

Recommended Posts

So... I'm wondering if I'm the only bride-to-be who's not doing an OOT bag?

Honestly, our wedding is already costing us way more than our planned budget, plus I feel like I have quite a bit of stuff on my plate already and don't feel like putting an OOT bag together plus bringing it all down south...

Am I being selfish??

We will be doing a basket of various products (Tylenol|Advil, Pepto Bismol, Tide-to-go, Anti-shine wipes, etc) in the women's and men's washrooms at the reception...

Don't worry about having oot bags for your guests. They're a nice gesture but definately not mandatory. I kept going back and forth about the bags but found some really cute ones (Coffee Mugs, Promotional Products, Shot Glasses, Wine Glasses, Beer Mugs, Tote Bags, Champagne Glasses, Wedding Favors , Sports Bottles, T-shirts, Promotional Pens, Personalized Glassware) and couldn't resist. They fit into our budget so I went ahead with them. I will wait until 1-2- weeks before to decide what I should stuff in them which will depend on luggage space.

Depending on the number of guests instead of oot bags some brides give out mugs- especially for those at all inclusive resorts so guests can fill up with drinks throughout the day. Just an idea but I wouldn't stress it.

The bathroom baskets are a wonderful and thoughful gesture!

I'm not doing OOT bags. For me, it's just an added expense that I can't afford. I am however doing somewhat of an OOT bag for the girls that are planning my bridal shower and bachelorette party. Just my way of saying thank you and I only had to do 4.

The bad thing about doing OOT bags for them is you just want to keep adding MORE and MORE stuff but have to find a way to cut yourself off and not go overboard.

I don't think you HAVE to do OOT bags for everyone but maybe you can do a cute little bag or basket for you BM's and GM's or your parents. Just a thought.

Good luck!

We're not doing OOT bags, the only thing I've ever wanted to get for our guests are Bubba Keg travel mugs. We'll give everyone one to enjoy for the week and that'll be enough. A lot of stuff in an OOT bag ppl bring themselves anyway, I know that my guests would expect it and I don't really think they'd use a lot of what I would put in it. Travel mugs are something they'd definitely use!

I didn't do the OOT bag. I mean, I get that it's a nice gesture, but who goes on vacation without sunscreen or Advil or anything like thathuh.gif I just did a welcome letter in everyone's rooms. We also paid for the taxes for everyone's rooms. I get that they paid a lot to come to my wedding, but I didn't want to give people stuff that they didn't need.

Do what works for you!

I agree with Magalie, do what works for you. If it's not in your budget then nix the idea. If you have the extra money get some small things. We had very few people that came with us so we did the bags but we gave them to everyone at home so we didn't have extra luggage costs. We did a small snack bag for their rooms which people liked & it cost me about $10 each - I went to costco and put in 2-3 100 calorie snack packs and a gatorade mini drink. Overall though, don't break your budget.

I'm not doing OOT bags either - never heard of them until I joined this forum! Plus we're the first to have a DW wedding in both our families and friends - so hopefully no expectations!

I think the idea is great, but can see it putting us way over our budget! Plus need to be careful with luggage weight - our airline is very strict and I can just about stick to the limit on a normal 2 week holiday!

We are planning to buy all our guest something either whilst we are over there or when we come back and give these to them at our AHR to show our appreciation for them coming!

I am not doing OOT bags either due to budget and the pain in the butt they are to bring down there! I know it may sounds selfish, but my sister did them for her wedding 2 years ago. At first I felt like I had to do them because she had, but when I really thought about it was a nice gesture (and i appreciate it and love her for doing them :)) but honestly we didn't use barely anything in the bag. The only thing I really heard/saw people used were travel mugs. So I put travel mugs into my budget and will give those to my guests as a sign of my appreciation along with a welcome letter!
