I agree with most of the posts above...go with the location you love. As for dates, if not a lot of people booked I would put some calls/emails out telling people you either changed your date or go with the 11 am time. If you are worried about the time in between maybe you can move your reception up or have "free time" for guests in between.

I think it depends on how attached you are to your original date. Our date is my late grandfathers birthday and I chose that date in honor of him, so I wouldn't be willing to change it - but that's just me.

So if you are open to changing the date, I would first check with your guests and see who has booked yet and make sure that everyone could change their travel plans if needed. Then go ahead and book the location you love!

Ultimately you need to do what you feel most comfortable and happy with, but I would vote to shift the date. It's only one day after all!

I know firsthand that it's a little embarassing to send out save the dates saying one thing, and then change the plans to be be something else. Originally my wedding was going to be in the DR and I sent out save the dates to that effect. It was only after I sent them that my TA informed me that the new travel itineraries coming out for the DR for late 2010 were not looking good... and she advised us to move the wedding to Mexico or be prepared for lengthy travel times. So we opted to take a little embarassment and move the location, for the good of everyone really. And you know what? No one seemed to care one bit!

It's hard to plan a wedding from afar, and hard to finalize all the details far enough in advance that your guests have enough notice to travel with you. Sometimes you just have to go with the flow, and ask your guests to bear with you and do the same :)

Are people staying at a resort or hotel for a few days or for a whole week? Have most people even made travel arrangements yet?

When we first sent out our STD cards, we had "March" on ours but when we actually booked and got final availability from the resort we picked, our wedding date ended up as April 12. This wasn't a big deal for us as we had only sent out STDs to give people a head's up to start saving so no one had actually made any travel plans. But I don't think changing the date by one day is a big deal at all. Like others said, it's your wedding so choose the venue that makes you happy :)

Thank you for all your input - it really has been a ton of help. We only had a few people that were booked but their travel was booked for 4 days before the wedding anyhow. We reached out to most of our guests and they all understood and told us that they were planning on being down there early anyway.

We are going to go ahead and switch days and have it at the time we want at the chapel we love!!!

13 was significant to me since it's been my lucky number forever...but I thought about it and realized that in this case it may not be that lucky since the ceremony time was going to be so hard to manage. We're lucky that the chapel is available on 11/12th and are so thrilled to be able to get married there!!
