I didn't get married in Maui, but I did get hitched in Jamaica. I used 30+ and re-applied pretty much every hour or right after I got out of the water. No sunburn for me. I got a pretty killer tan in the 2 weeks we stayed there as well.

We got married in Turks & Caicos & I was worried about the same thing...I burn way too easy. We stocked up on SPF 70 and 80 and I applied it religiously every 2 hours and sat in the shade pre-wedding. Post-wedding I wasn't as stringent but I didn't want to look like a lobster for my pictures.

So is SPF +70 more effective than SPF +30. we will have a similar problem. In normal sun my fiancee burns like a lobster...maybe worst than a lobster! he got 3rd degree burns in Georgia. Well we are worried what will happen to him and pretty much also want to apply sunscreen on him every hour. a little scary to think about.
