Alternative to wedding rings!

Recommended Posts

So my husband and I are having our vow renewal on our 7th anniversary. Since we were young with limited funds when we got married, we decided to upgrade our rings! First of all, he never wears his, partly because he is on the flight line (USAF) and can't wear it, so he got used to not wearing it at all. Whereas, I wore mines everyday, but I stopped wearing mines when I lost a whole bunch of weight and they didn't fit anymore and I never went to get them resized. So, we went Saturday to get our "rings", I upgraded to a very nice set that HE picked out, but instead of him getting a ring, he wanted a watch... not a cheap watch either... an Omega Watch, which was $3K. I argued that TRADITIONALLY people get rings.. then he said .. we aren't TRADITIONAL people... touche! So, as a compromise, he has to get the ring engraved with our wedding date or whatever else I can think of to distinguish it as a "Wedding Watch". This is going to make for an interesting "Exchange of Rings" during the ceremony.

Congrats on your 7th anni! Hey- whatever works for you guys! I don't see the point on spending money on a ring he can't wear, so a watch sounds more practical of a purchase. It will be interesting, "Please present the ring.... and watch." "I exchange this....watch as a sign of my promise to love, honor and cherish you." LOL- I love it!
