Did you use an Ipod instead of a DJ? Please help : )

Recommended Posts

I decided to ditch the DJ and do the music myself. I figure why gamble with a DJ when I have the option to set it up myself. I suppose the transitions won't be as nice, but whatever. I have working on compiling lists of music today. I think I am going to have my ipod along with burned CD's for back up. I really don't think your guests will care if there is a DJ. I never remember the DJ, but I do remember the songs and dancing. I think we're all capable of putting the music together now that we have technology on out side. Cheers! friday.gif

Hi Girls,

Great info and I looked up the sites mentioned for extra info. I am going to use an IPOD suggested by Nicole for Las Caletas. I decided to do this because our group of between 100 - 150 are in different age groups and frankly between my HTB and my brothers we have ITunes up the you know what. I'm going to have backup CD's just in case. My question is has anyone used the IPod or CD's with this many people on a beach wedding? more specifically Las Caletas? I'd be interested to know how that went. Also I am having a slideshow, did anyone on Las Caletas do this? Thanks for all the info so helpful in the last of the planning stage. :)drum.gif

I told Tom about doing the iPod and he loves the idea -- so we can play a lot of non-traditional wedding music.

There are some sites that have downloadable software available to help you mix the music so it fades in and out from one song to the next, overlapping like on the radio.

Once I get all our music downloaded, I will get them in order and then use that software to make it flow.

For the Las Caletas brides, do you know if we need to bring our own docking station / speaker system if we plan to use our IPODs? I could ask Kelley, but thought maybe one of you ladies might know. I'd also like to know about their slideshow capabilities.

Foxytv... can you share the websites where you can download the music mixing software? I think that would make the music sound awesome and like a real DJ!

Right now I'm using FlexiMusic Wave Editor (FlexiMusic Audio Editor, Wave/MP3 Editor, Composer, Generator Software) but there are others as well.

I need to ask a friend about the one he uses, b/c he makes Mix CD's all the time and they are great. I'll find out and post!

thank you thank you--I'm going to check out fleximusic. If you find out what one your friend uses as well, can you please share?

We've decided to use the ipod too--although they aren't charging us $25 an hour--its like $90 an hour, but its better than the $1000 that they wanted to rent us a DJ for sad.gif. SO much price gouging!! At least this way we can play all the music WE want!

I can't testify to how it will all work, but we sent out an email to all of our guests for them to submit a song request and they are really getting into it. I know the DJ that we would have had wouldn't have been able to do that : ).

I don't really want to play "who let the dogs out" for our wedding...but, my nephews are pretty into that song (4 of them, all under the age of 6) So, we'll take one for the team : )

Did you look through all the songs and playlist threads on here? There are a ton. I've copied most of them into Word and am cross-referencing when I download music to make sure I have a wide variety. Then we'll put our playlists together closer to our DW.
