Trash the dress - need help!

Recommended Posts

Totally agree with BethBride1. Buy a $99 dress that looks similar to yours, wallow around in the mud with your hubby, then throw the wet, filthy dress in the trash afterwards...with no love lost. You probably won't behave as carefree at your TTD in a dress that has sentimental (or serious resale) value.

I can tell you that I trashed my dress Saturday morning and by Monday it was dry enough for my mom to take home (folded into a garbage bag, no less). It was also spotless. I wore it again a month and a half later without even cleaning it! My mom hung it up as soon as she got home and left it hanging till I wore it again for my AHR - all I had to do was shake the sand out of the crevices! MY TTD pics are AWESOME and it was so much fun!

I am still undecided on buying a 2nd dress for our TTD session...

For some reason, I just can't bring myself to trash my actual wedding dress! I know I won't wear it again and I agree that the pictures would be great if I was wearing the same dress...

I do worry about the dress still being wet when we get on the plane and having problems with it, though. Our TTD session in on the Friday and we leave on the Sunday.

What about those of you who are staying for an extra week for your honeymoon? Do you send your dress with one of your guests, say your mom?

  • 1 year later...

I just saw this thread come up and I wanted to share that my trash the dress shoot was the most amazing thing I have ever done. It was so amazing and fun. I used my real dress and it ended up coming out cleaner than I strted because I used a shower next to the beach to clean it out then washed it in the bathtub. It was still a bit wet when I packed it away to go with me to our honeymoon but I hung it to dry when I got there. It is now no dirtier than it was after my wedding day. I need to take it in to get drycleaned still bt i've never been worried about it getting wrecked. We had the time of our lives doing the ttd and I would recommend it to anyone.

I may have to do mine beforehand, but with a different dress. Just a little concerned of him seeing me in white before the wedding day. I want him to be so shocked when he sees my in white on my wedding day. I guess I can wear a long everyday dress and go in the water.

You could always do a fun colored dress, rather then white.
