Married! Lindquist Bay, sailed on Freedom of Seas!

Recommended Posts

Hi all

We are home and have had such an exciting time since we came home as we wed with no one knowing until we told our folks and 2 daughters the night before!!! We had arranged it all using Island Bliss Weddings, Janelle Scott and she was great and we had no problems (although it was prob a piece of cake for her to organise!!).

31 March was a public hol in St thomas and this was potentially a problem as the courts only open until 11.30am and FOS doesnt get in til 11am! We asked Guest services if they had any way of allowing us off the ship 'first' but they said no. So we presumed it would be busy and we joined the queue at about 10.30am which was good fun with all the other passengers being excited about our dress! OH was in his kilt so this caused quite a stir! It was quite hot and uncomfortable and we were anxious to get off ASAP.

Luckily FOS was on perfect timing and we left the ship with no probs with even the staff wishing us well! We met Stuart Scott (Janelles husband whom was also going to marry us) with no problems and headed straight to their car where he had the air con on! And bottles of water - bliss!

From their straight to the court house where he called ahead saying the traffic was busy but could they stay open as we were on our way! Luckily there was no problem with them doing this!

My parents, MIL, 2 daughters were able to leave the ship, also no prob with timing etc and they went into the pre booked taxi for them and straight round to Lindquist Beach (wedding site).

The court house was no problem, in and out in just over 10mins I think. We live in Scotland and it is quite strange as on the same page we had to sign of the book there was 2 other Scottish couples home addresses above ours!! Small world!

We then went to Lindquist Beach and on the way we stopped at a lovely view point over Magens Bay and we had a few pics here. It was funny as OH in kilt he was asked by a few other tourists to get pics with them!!

From there onto Lindquist which was absolutely beautiful. Stuart was saying it was quite busy with 5 ships in and also being a public hol but there was no more than 20 others on the beach!!

It was boiling hot! We met Janelle and during this time Stuart was asking OH some questions about how we met etc which was lovely when he used this info during the very lovely service.

I stayed in the car until we were all ready. Decided to walk down the 'aisle' with my 2 daughters and although we had our ipod with us with music special to us I had not picked any music to walk into so we just went with Canon in D that Janelle had. It was lovely and really suited the beach we thought!!!

The service was lovely and the whole thing so amazing! Some folk on the beach did stop to watch and after the service these 4 guys at a picnic table near to the wedding area gave my dad and OH beers!! Everyone was so nice.

We then had the champagne, rum punch, water, children had cider stuff and all very happy, got some pics taken - we had booked a photographer for an hour and this was definately long enough for us and our size of group.

We went further up the beach to the emptier bit for the pics, hope they will be good!

The sea was so warm also, amazing!

From my experience one of my daughters is very fair skinned and was very hot!! I would encourage all to think of parasols if they getting married on the sand as there was really no shelter for the service and she obviously didnt want to miss out and stand in the shade of the trees. I had fans and they helped a bit to keep them cool but not much!

We then went from there to Magens Bay to relax. Janelle had arranged for the taxi my folks etc came in to take us there which was great.

Magens bay is also fantastic but Thank Goodness we were not married there as it was sooooo busy!!! The beach and sea were crowded like a beach in a busy Spanish resort!!! Lovely but so not good for a wedding on that day!! We had lunch, drinks and a swim in the sea then taxi back to the ship!

We by then had text/phoned home and all the excitement continued!

We have both been married before and went away with no one knowing until night before thinking it was fine, no fuss etc but it has caught everyones imagination and I think all friends and family more excited than I could have thought!!

Oh, I had real touch flowers that I took with me and I took wrist corsages with matching tartan ribbon to tie them for the girls and my mum, MIL mum.

Will try and upload a couple of pics, not very good at doing this!

If I can be of help to any others then ask away!

FOS - I asked in the perfume shop about getting my make up done but decided against it in the end as she wanted to do trials etc and I had had a lesson before I left and bought all the recommended colours etc. She was going to charge me $50 for doing it.

OH had an express shave on the ship in the barbours place - cost approx $45 and he said it was great. He booked it the day we boarded and had appt for 8.30 am.

I did my own hair and make up as did my other guests (they of course had little choice as didnt know until night before!!).

Enjoy your planning and your days!! We had an unbelievable time!!

Jackie xx
