Is anyone doing this?

We also aren't doing the bouquet/garter toss thing... and I like your idea about honoring the married couples... but out of 31 people we only have 4 married couples! If anything I'd rather not do anything that might alienate people (mostly the singles!) But our dance is only 2.5 hours long so I wonder if we even need anything? I hope not because I'm running out of time and brain power!

Another idea I've heard of (and we may actually do) is while the guests are seated, you have the DJ or MC ask questions about the bride or groom to guests, like true or false questions. Guests work together at each table to answer the questions (kinda like a game show). The table who can answer the most questions gets a prize or something like that. Just a thought.
This same idea was used at my brothers wedding except if the table or person got the question right, the bride and groom had to kiss....if the question was answered wrong, the bride and groom got to choose who that person or table kissed. It was quite a bit of fun, especially when a table of my brothers single male friends all had to troop over and kiss my mum!

Oh my gosh barbigirl that is HILARIOUS!!!

I'm loving the idea of not doing the garter/bouquet toss...Thatâ€s always my least favorite part of any reception lol! So thanks to everyone for offering alternatives!

I don't believe in either so will not be doing them. Haven't really thought of replacing them with something else, I was just going to forget about it. But now that you have mentioned it, it maybe good to come up with something. Thanks!

Instead, we had all the married couples out on the dance floor for a special dance and then the DJ periodically eliminated the couples by how long they've been married. First was, "if you've been married for less than a day, leave the dance floor." Obviously, that's the bride and groom! Then less than a year, five years, ten years, or however, customized to however many couples you have. The last couple on the dance floor is the longest married. We had a special bouquet made up for them. It was a beautiful way to honour those who have been married for such a long time instead of putting spotlight on the singles. :oÞ And everybody loved the idea. People still talk about that from my wedding.
i like this idea..

you can also do the "is he my husband?" game
where you blindfolded her and placed her in front of several men. let her choose which one is her husband by touching his face or any part of his body..

We plan on doing the bouquet/garter toss, depending on how many single guests are attending.

I'm not sure we'll have enough time for games throughout the reception though... especially if we do the bouquet/garter thing... plus, I think most of my guests won't really like games to being with.
