Wahoo, love this show! And good riddance to Mary, omg, I would always fast forward through her comments and sometimes even the other judges b/c I couldn't stand her screaming ass.

We went to the season 5 show when it came to town. So awesome! Those kids are so dang talented!!! (We just bought the tickets online.)

Quick thoughts...

 

1) I like how the sped through auditions this year instead of drawing it out for weeks on end. It's been 3 shows and they are already halfway thru Vegas!

 

2) How did they only find 3 people in Nashville? They didn't even have a choreography round!

 

3) Is it just me or are the boys small this year? I like the really big, masculine dancers like Josh and Ryan who can throw the girls around.

 

4) How fantastic were the 2 from last year - Billy Bell and Alex, the Asian ballet dancer! My husband was like, just go ahead and put the in the top 10!

 

5) I don't know how I feel about the new format. As much as I want to see the All Stars, I hate that they are only starting with 5 boys and 5 girls.

 

6) They haven't shown it yet, but I HATE that new stage they put in last year. I feel like once they changed that, it all went downhill for me. The judges keep talking about how amazing season 6 was and I really don't remember it, though I watched it!

I love it too! But I agree that it seems silly that they are bringing back ten of the old dancers. Let new talent have a chance! Billy Bell and Alex are in a league of their own IMO. The girl with the bun in her hair (Marge Simpson) I don't really like. I think she is just O.K. in her own style but something about her body is very lanky and doens't move well outside her style. I was pleasantly suprised by the femal tap dancer with the long brown hair. She did really well in all the choreography. It seems as if the season auditions were riddled with contemporary dancers and not many hip hop, etc that we have seen in years past. That new ballroom choreographer is bossy! She was barking like crazy at everyone! Yikes!
I'm also glad they pushed through the auditions rather than spreading it out. Good thinking.

I love SYTYCD but seriously a top 11 so that Billy Bell could be included?! WTF?! I really don't agree with that at all. Don't get me wrong, he is a good dancer and all but come on, it is time to move onto new talent! they let that Anthony (guy from Harlem with the injured hamstring) go over Billy Bell?! I just don't agree with that...not only was that Anthony guy a GOOD dancer but he was nice to look at!

 

So far I am not liking this top 10 thing, although I am excited to see the all stars come back. However I do have mixed feelings about that too! Why do the "all stars" have to come back? why have they not moved on to bigger and better things? like for example Kayla who is now dancing with Jennifer Lopez, and also all of the one that are now on dancing with the stars? hmmm I just don't know about this season!

Spoiler alert! Just kidding. I have it TiVo'd, and I'll watch it tomorrow (when my FI isn't next to me complaining about having to watch two hours of dancing he doesn't understand ). I do not like the old dancer mentor thing. I would rather see new talent. Just my opinion though. bummed to hear they let that hamstring guy go. I really liked him.

I haven't watched this weeks episodes yet, but I agree. I kinda like the old dancers mentor idea, but why can't they have it still be a top 20 and still get rid of 1 b/g each week? I don't like the idea of the top 10 b/c it's just such a small number!
