El Dorado Royale (EDR) Brides - POST HERE!

Recommended Posts

We rented vases from Lomas for the bridesmaids bouquets. They were really only footed tall drink glasses and they were blowing over all night until we just got rid of them and left the bouquets on the table. The rules at Eldorado can drive you crazy. So for them to give you that ridiculous legal bit is over the top. My mom put out the other decorations of seashells and fabric. They also made us write and sign a release form minutes before the wedding because there was a 10 percent chance of rain and they would not be responsible for the DJ or dinner getting cancelled. Why do they even promote a destination wedding? My mom signed something, we did have a beautiful wedding once we got past their rules. Don't let them ruin your day!

Thanks, Natalie...I will definitely keep that in mind. I'm trying not to stress about it, but, it's just so frustrating..

By the way, your pictures are beautiful!!! Looks like you had an amazing day!

You look gorgeous!

I have a few questions...

Where did you have your reception at? You said it was windy and the centerpieces were blowing all over the place.

Also, did you buy the sandbox for your placecards from the hotel? I am looking for something just like that, but, Valeria sent me a different picture.

Also, did you use the DJ or ipod for your reception? What did you use for music at your ceremony?

Thanks!

My reception was at Tucannes Bar, it was Jan 31 2009 so probably will be less windy for you. If you have candles maybe have a glass hurricane as ours were going out. I really did not like the vases they rented to us. With the bouquets in them they were top heavy. The vases were really just a footed tall glass. My mom got frustrated with all the extras so she brought a wooded box (just packed some clothes in it so it really didn't take up much space) and later put sand in it for the shells. We actually left it at Eldorado for other girls to use, but I bet they either threw it out or are renting that! Ha! Ask Valeria if they saved the one we left. Tell her you're friends with that couple and they said you could use it free. Tell her it was the the Ozog/ Katz wedding Jan 31, good luck.

We did use a DJ. Glad we did, he had all these color lights, bubble machine, and balloons. Made it fun and festive. We bought a couple of mexican hats ($7.00 in town) that were passed around during the dancing, good for photos too! The DJ however did not know much english so we had one of the younger outgoing guest act as MC, it made it personal and fun.

Thanks for the tips! That really helps! I'll check with Valeria about the sand box.

I'm getting a little nervous right now...she hasn't responded to me in one week, which is unlike her. I have so much planning to do and my day is right around the corner! Yikes!

I was fortunate to have out wedding at EDR on March 14th 2009. We had 50 guests that attended. I wanted to help put everyones mind at ease for having their wedding at EDR, everything was perfect. DO not second guess your decision on this, because after it is over you will not regret it. The EDR wedding coordinators are great and were on top of their game, as were the waiters/bartenders who served our wedding. Yes, they do nickel and dime you about things, but in the long run it was still cheaper then having a wedding in the states. We had Claudia Rodriguez photography take pictures for us, Citlalli and Tamra, unreal to work with. We have yet to see the final pictures, but am sure they will be awesome! In addition, every one of our 50 guests loved their time at the resort. Please feel free to ask any questions that you may have, but again....do not second guess your decision to have your wedding at EDR.

I am getting married at El Dorado Royal in November and am having around 50 guests as well. Where was your ceremony and reception. I think I am having a private cocktail and reception at Tucanes, but would love to hear what you did with that many people. I also think we will have the rehearsal at one of the restaurants for everyone as well. I would love to see any picutres as well. What type of room did you stay in?

The nice thing about the resort is that we never felt like we had 50 people attending our wedding everyone went off and did their own thing, though everyday there was a big group of us at the main pool. We had a cocktail party friday night at Tuscanes, passed Hor Dorves had our ipod playing(if you have an ipod player, bose etc...bring it as theirs didnt work to well), but the food was awesome....we had floating candles, tiki torches, and sand bags with candles....our ceremony was at the garden gazebo which was awesome, there people on their balcony watching the ceremony. We had our reception on the beach at the white gazebo, the wind wasnt too bad, but we did buck up and pay for the tent, which was well worth the price....as for pics we are waiting for the photogs to get back with us, but i will try to post some pics for you....

We got married at EDR in Nov 2007. Almost everything about it was PERFECT!!! We had exactly 50 guests.

Had the ceremony at the gazebo all the way south on the property with the stone wall and waves behind us. Reception at Tucanes which is by far the best choice in our opinion. For that number there is enough room, but it's very private!

We did our rehearsal with their free dinner the night before at El Cocotal and then got together in the martini bar and watched the Eagles-patriots game (which most of our 50 were very interested in!!!)

We stayed in a regular suite for the first 3 days and then upgraded to a casita the day before the wedding so the girls would have somewhere nice to get dressed, take pictures, hold the lingerie shower, etc...

Here are links to our pics, which should give you a good idea of the resort and locations.

Enjoy!

Hi guys.

I'm thinking about hiring outside florist to do my bouquet and centerpiece and have it delivered. Would anyone know if I'll be charged a vendor fee for this? I'm afraid to ask Valerie since she might charge me another $500 for not using their florist! Sheesh this vendor thing is pain in the butt!

Yes, I happen to be discussing this with Valeria this week. She told me that if you bring any flowers from outside the hotel/another florist, you will be charged the $500 fee. Also, for some reason, she also told me that if I choose to display my own centerpieces, there is a set up fee for that too!
