Random Question: Does El Dorado include charger plates with the included decor (along with the white linens and such)? I don't care if they are white but wanted to see if they had any at all.

No chargers are included in the basic set up for receptions.

Do you guys know if the you can get the donkey bar at tucane's bar for the reception, like in the actual reception area?

 

I'm guessing they wont allow the donkey to be on the generations pier where we are having our cocktail hour...

It has all of the private reception areas and what they allow. According to that, you can have the donkey at Tucanes, but I'm not sure how it works or anything.

Hi @@AllieH! Thanks so much for your help!!! Do you know if you can have witnesses sign the certificate? Also, did you or anyone rent the sound system for $250 for the private reception? How many speaker are there? Should I just scratch it and bring my portable Bose speaker? Also, if we stay on the Casistas side, but our guests are on the other side, do they need reservations for the other restaurants, if they come with us?

Lastly, we are having difficulty picking our wedding song, song to walk down the isle and guest coming in and out. I probably am thinking about it too much. Any ideas?

@@lshotty - I know quite a few brides have rented the $250 sound system. I thought it was a bose system similar to what you can bring vs. a lot of speakers. Hopefully one of the other ladies can confirm! We went with a DJ so I'm not much help there. 

 

I think you'll be able to make reservations for you & guests, up to a party of 6 (they generally won't seat more than 6 together). I would be very sweet and kind with your concierge and offer small cash gratuities when you're making reservations 

 

Ah the music. first - pick what you love. Don't sweat if it isn't "the perfect wedding song". There's a ton of threads on songs on this site: http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/45-wedding-music-entertainment/

 

A popular guest seating song (and the one we used) is Israel Kamakawiwo'ole's Somewhere Over the Rainbow + What a Wonderful World. We also used "Going to the Chapel" - the 1950's song, and one other that I can't remember right now. If you like country you can play "I Do" by Mark Wills, Rascal Flatts - so many to choose from. here are some others that come to mind: 

It Had to Be You (Harry Connick Jr)

She Will Be Loved (Maroon 5)

I Cross My Heart (George Strait)

I'll Be (Edwin McCain or Sara Evans)

 

John Legend has some great romantic songs too. 

 

For my walk I used Silver String Quartet's instrumental version of Just the Way You Are (Bruno Mars) - it was fun and upbeat, and non-traditional which is what I wanted. Search YouTube for more of their music as they have instrumentals of a lot of popular music. 

 

Our first dance song was "I Won't Give Up" by John Mayer - it fit us and is the promise we made to each other. 

 

So in summary - pick what you love. Make it personal - if that's traditional, great! If not, don't be afraid to change it up and do something that represents you two, your family & friends, etc. Do a quick google search for wedding music ____ (ceremony, intro, processional, etc.) and you'll find a lot of lists and blogs with suggestions.

I'm looking through the packages for Sarani, and it looks like you only get her for "Junior Package" or the "Full Package". Did you get one of those? Because it looks like the "All day package" even though it's 8 hours is with her associates, and that was the one I was leaning toward.

Hi everyone! I've been reading through this thread it's great to see so many November brides like me. My wedding date is 11/29/14. I feel as though I have the bulk of the planning complete but I'm sure I'm missing many details. 

 

I am having my ceremony at Gazebo 55 and reception at Tucanes. However, I love the location of the health bar so I've asked to switch. There will be 22 guests total. 

 

I am bringing reception decor, welcome bags, and my own stationary. Does anyone have any recommendations as to how I get everything down to the resort? Should I send via fedex ahead of time or pack in suitcases. I feel like I have so much...chargers, frames, 72 votive candles, etc. Thoughts?

Hi @@kamelia054 - welcome to BDW! 

 

Pack your decorations in suitcases and take it down with you. Commission friends/family/bridal party to take an extra bag (that you will pay for) if needed. I say this for several reasons:

1. The extra cost of 2-3 checked bags will be much less than shipping costs. 

2. If you ship, there's a really good chance you'll have to pay import taxes to Mexico.

3. If you ship, there's a really good chance your stuff will not make it to the resort (be held up by customs).

4. The resort isn't able to store stuff for brides anyway. 

 

Get a roll of bubble wrap for the votives, or wrap them up in clothes. If the chargers are breakable, pack them with a foam plate in between (you can also do this with frames). If you have some really fragile items, consider packing them in a carry-on bag and make your FI carry it on the plane. 

 

When we went down, we had 3 suitcases of just "stuff" - decorations, favors and OOT bags. Coming back we packed the smaller suitcases inside the larger ones and condensed it down. We got a couple of 4 piece sets for $75 on sale, and while not high quality, it served it's purposed and then some.

 

You could also get cheap luggage and leave it down there if you are so inclined.
