Hey ED Ladies!

 

Quick question: I know that ED charges a day pass for those attending the wedding from another hotel, but is there any type of fee if you have the wedding at the marina location? Also, who knows if they have a restriction on how many persons can purchase a day pass and not stay on wedding property?

If you are having a private reception on the day of your wedding (cocktail or dinner), there should be no fee for guests coming from a different resort. As to restrictions for how many I am not sure. I am also not familiar with the marina location?

I hope everyone is doing well! I have a quick question for the brides that brought their own decor. We are thinking of bringing our own lights and center pieces.. pretty simple stuff! My WC is quoting us at an $800 set-up fee for the lights, $5 for every table runner that we bring and x amount for the center pieces. 

 

It seems a tad bit excessive to me... has anyone else had to deal with a similar situation? Any advice on how to handle this? Should we just not inform them and set it up ourselves?? 

 

Any advice and guidance is appreciated!!!

We all dealt with unreasonable quotes on set up fees, and the tough part was the policy changed from bride to bride and WC to WC.

 

Our best advice is to use the estimate from the WC as your highest, and work it out with the onsite WC (which tends to be a lower cost/quote). The most recent policy we had heard was $5 per person for set up, so what they quoted you is new...

I keep forgetting you're at Maroma vs. EDR.

 

While the Marina is separate from the resort (technically), I believe there's still a security gate to pass through to get to the Marina. so someone would need to be on the guest list for either the wedding or as having a day pass to get through security.

 

I would guess the same rules apply - if you're having a private event (dinner), there's no day pass fee required. If you aren't having a private event, then they would probably have to pay for a day pass. I believe it's slightly less $$ for the day-of vs. a whole day pass, but you'd need to ask your WC.

I am getting married February 2015 next door at the new Generations Riviera Maya but will most likely get some pics in at EDR and have guests there. Do you mind if I join you? I started a GRM thread but am guessing no one else has booked there yet -at least not posting on this site. :)

 

I read a Tripadvisor review from an "accidental" GRM bride - her original location was closing down so at the last min her TA got her switched to GRM. She was pleased based on the review but she was also happy her wedding was saved etc... which is totally understandable.

welcome to the group!! I'd assume you'll have the best of both GRM and EDR at your disposal. I am hoping to get a peak at GRM when we are at EDR in June.

@@AllieH - Thanks so much and you are right, we picked Generations/EDR for the "best of both" factor.  Since my 9 year old niece is definitely in the wedding and I will most likely have 2 little flower girls, we had to do a family friendly.  We initially were looking at Azul Beach and Sensatori but fell in love with the Generations Riviera Maya/EDR idea when we saw Generations during a Karisma Dress Rehearsal visit.  So far the pics over on Tripadvisor look great and there have been nothing but rave reviews - which makes me excited.  Now if I could just see pics of the sky deck & where receptions etc are held.  :rolleyes:

 

Now that we have the date & resort, we are trying to determine room blocks.  Do you have any suggestions?  We are expecting 50-75 people and I know at least 5 rooms will be at Generations.  I'm thinking we should request 30 and split them 15 and 15? Almost all of my guests (except my sister/brother-in-law, college bestie aka mother of the flower girls, and a family friend who's bringing her teens - never leaves them home) will be adults. 

 

I'm waiting to hear from my TA on if she can match the current offer I saw on another thread. Apparently Karisma is offering $1000 off for food/beverage if you book a Generations wedding & a free Catamaran cruise (for up to 40 people) with up to $1200 in food/beverage credit if you book 10+ rooms at a Karisma property. :huh:  I hope inquiring about this offer isn't asking too much.
