El Dorado Royale (EDR) Brides - POST HERE!

Recommended Posts

I had both my hair and makeup done and did trials for both the day before the wedding. I had no clue how it would turn out, so for peace of mind, I met with the stylist the day before and she was really attentive to what I was looking for makeup wise and adjusting the hairstyle to my exact specifications. She even took my hair down and put it in another up-do for the rehearsal dinner so that my bridal hair style wouldnt be reveiled early!

Up to the day before the wedding, I didnt have my heart set on any particular hair style, so I just showed her 2-3 pics of things that I liked and she combined different elemtsn of all 3 styles to create something for me! I couldnt have been happier with my hair!

Also, did anyone go ahead with hair and/or makepu trials prior? Was it worth it? Anyone who didn't but wish they had? Thanks!

I'm usually pretty good at doing my own hair, except for when it comes to curling it and putting it in an updo. I thought for sure that I wanted an updo for our wedding because of the detail on the back of my dress. I scheduled a rehearsal hair appointment on the day before the wedding and I was pretty pleased with what my stylist created. She was even kind enough to restyle my hair before I left since we were all going out to dinner and I didn't want everyone to see my wedding day hair before the actual wedding. My actual hair appointment unfortunately did not go as well and right away I knew that I was unhappy. She used a lot of hair product and hairspray that made my hair look slicked back and greasy. It didn't look natural. For the rehearsal she had pinned curls along the nape of my neck and it looked so elegant. On the day of she pinned the curls differently and gave it a different shape that made it look more edgy. I had asked for two big braids along my hairline to lead into the curls but they were thin and the braid didn't start right at the part in my hair where I had asked them to be. I didn't have a rehearsal makeup session but did have my makeup done the day of. I asked for a natural look with just a touch of a smokey eye to make my eyes pop. The smokey eye ended up being real heavy and even after I asked her to blend it more it was just too dramatic. There was another bride there at the same time as me and I just loved her look. She looked so natural and beachy and I found myself envying her. The whole process took so long and I knew that if I had her change any of it I would barely have time to get back to my room and change before the ceremony started. When I got back to my room I pulled  the braids and all of the bobby pins out of my hair and luckily the curls still looked beautiful so I teased my roots a little and pulled the curls back into a low ponytail. I also wiped off most of the eye shadow and reapplied with my own makeup to get the look I was going for. I was so disappointed that I didn't like my hair since I had read so many good reviews about the salon. I wish now that I would have scheduled my appointment earlier in the day and then I could have had more time to be vocal about my dislikes about the look. The other brides I saw during our stay looked so beautiful and my bridesmaid looked amazing, so I have no doubt that their salon is full of talented women...it just wasn't the best for me.

To all you brides who did the symbolic ceremony, did they make you show your marriage license?

Here's why I ask...in SC you only need the signature and stamp of a notary public on your marriage license, then you file it and it's a done deal.....ceremony or not.

A friend of ours is a notary and is coming with us. We were going to sign our license and have her stamp it that day......shhhhhhhhh don't tell the state of SC lalala.gif

Soooooooooo......think they will care that our license isn't signed until that day???

Thanks so much!!

If you are doing a symbolic ceremony, Mexico/the resort does not need any documentation about you being married. Some people actually arent legally married in the States until they get back. SInce it isnt legal, you dont have to have a license.

So for any honeymoon package things you didn't need a license?

What do you mean by Honeymoon package things? Are  you staying at the resort immiediatly following your wedding? I would imagine you do not need your marriage certificate for that since you would have just had your wedding ceremony there.

We are doing the 1 year anniversary package coming up in May and it says we need to bring our marriage certificate, but my TA said that since we got married at an El Dorado resort, they count your one year from your wedding ceremony in Mexico and that we dont need to bring our marriage certificate.

So we ordered our own fabric to bring for gazebo sheers, because I was able to find them for $20/bolt. Aka I only spent $40, instead of the $300 the resort was going to charge. Score!

I'm a little uneasy, because I had emailed our WC and she said they use all sorts of fabrics and pretty much anything was fine. So we went with tulle because it was cheapest. For brides that have been there already, does this sound like it would work? I'm nervous it'll be weird and maybe we should get chiffon? I couldn't tell what the sheers they provide are made of. Thanks!
