El Dorado Royale (EDR) Brides - POST HERE!

Recommended Posts

I'm sorry, I should have been more specific, I meant how did you stow your dress on the airplane? However, I am glad to know they will steam the dress at the resort. Thank you sooooo much for the Gazebo advice, I think I am going to change to Gazebo 55. Enjoy your time there!! How long are you staying?
Oh, oops. Lol they hung it behind the last row of first class seats. So it was a little smashed, but nothing they won't steam out here. They also offered their closet in the front, but we were on an old plane and it was tiny. Our flight attendants were as accommodating as they could be with limited space available. That said, I'm glad I was the first bride on board (first class) and not the 5th.

Shannon,

Check out this link...you can get a 360 degree tour of the wedding locations.  I found it very helpful.  http://www.travimp.com/hotel.php?msg=cunelc  Just click on take a virtual tour and click on the HD360 tab.  Once the picture comes up, click on the picture and it will come up full screen.  Click on the picture in full screen and on the top left hand corner you will see a drop down menu of different locations, you can see Gazebo 55 as well as restuarants/bars etc..  You can even click on the picture to stop it from rotating and move around as you wish.

I booked Gazebo 55 based on seeing the locations on this site and other pictures.  I get married on April 28, 2013, so this site has been very helpful. I won't visit EDR until days before the wedding.

Good luck!

Melanie

We rode all over the resort this morning. The other gazebo I like is presidential or Fuentes, but I'm not sure which one it was. The next one north of 55. The wedding coordinators have been great. Our group dinner at cocotal was fabulous last night! The food was amazing, the kept the wine flowing, and brought tequila shots for the crazies. Hairstyle rehearsal with mirabel was great too. She did exactly what I wanted, and then fixed it before I went to dinner in a different style. IMO, it's absolutely worth it for the casitas. The villa rooms I've seen are much smaller. I can't tell you how much we love the resort. It is perfect. FYI, there were 5 weddings yesterday. If you have any flexibility, I'd suggest not picking a Saturday. There is only 1 today, 1 Friday and 1 tomorrow (mine!) If I can answer any questions, please let me know. Thankfully we have another week here!

If you have a chance, could you go by the beach chapel terrace gazebo and let me know what you think of the location? And pro's and cons of having the ceremony there verses Gazebo 55. I have only seen a few photos of each and I'd really like to have something else to base my decision on. I will be forever in your debt if you can do this for me. Thanks :) :) :)

Gazebo across from ChapelThese are a few pictures I took when we were down visiting last January. The Chapel Gazebo is pretty, and centrally located. But it is not very private, right off the main walkway (so likely you will have a lot of bypassers stopping to watch), the golf carts driving by, etc. I took photos of all the wedding sites. Click on my user name, and then when my profile comes up scroll to the bottom where is says photos- there is a link called EDR photos. I think my favourite is on the casitias side across from the Italian restaurant. Super private, and on a nice stretch of sand! Good luck :)

How are all you ladies handling the whole bridal shower situation? We are only inviting siblings and parents, and then having an AHR/nice dinner at a restaurant a few months after we get back. I know etiquette states you are only supposed to invite people to a shower who are invited to the wedding, in which case it's silly to have one. But since we're doing something after we're back and inviting all extended family, friends, etc., would it be appropriate to have one? My MOH wants to throw one, but I don't want to offend anyone. The rules get more confusing with a DW!

Are you only inviting a small group of people to the wedding? I sent out about 60 save the dates and will send out about 60 invites.  My destination wedding invite list isn't any smaller than if I were having a traditional at home wedding.  I believe etiquette states that you would invite everyone to the shower whether they plan on attending the wedding or not.  Although, I know only maybe 1/3 will come to Mexico, I'm pretty sure that you would have a normal shower at home before the wedding.  This is also a chance for those who will not be able to make it to EDR to buy you a gift.

Hey Allie, what time are you having your ceremony and what time has it been getting dark there? I'm wondering if we should have our photos done before the ceremony since ours is at 6pm.  I'm worried about the sun setting!!
