We are headed back for our one year anniversary! I think we are going to try another El Dorado resort though. I have already been there twice now, and I think it would be nice to visit a smaller resort since it's just me4 and my hubby visiting. Who did you book all your travel with?

We booked with DestinationWeddings.com, which gave us a $750 credit towards our 1 year anniversary stay for booking a certain amount of rooms for our wedding. The resort also gives you:

• Private romantic candle light dinner on the beach for the couple

• Chilled bottle of domestic champagne delivered to couples room upon arrival

• Couples ½ hour massage lesson

• Guaranteed king-size bed

• Special in room towel arrangement daily

• Bathrobes for use during stay

I am a question for Nikki and Mrendic.  How did you get your chair hangers with the star fish down, without putting wrinkles in your ribbon?  As I'm starting to get stockpiles of things I'm starting to notice how cumbersome traveling with different things might just be.  Also, did anyone bring they're votive holders with them in their luggage.  Debating on whether or not to A. bring them down in a bag, B. ship them in a box, or C. pre-order them with Walmart and just pick them up at the store in Playa Car.   I think a lot will depend on what I end up like for center pieces to begin with.  Later today I'm going to try making my own Mercury glass.  I found a DIY for it, super simple- You buy this Krylon spray paint called Looking Glass and spray the inside.  Then to get that moddled old look, you just spray the bottle with diluted vinegar and pop the bubbles that form on the inside, thus removing just a bit of the finish.  Seems easy enough, and I love the way Mercury glass looks.  Here's the pin that I saw it on.  http://pinterest.com/pin/217509856973967567/

I have to say I was a bit overwhelmed with how much stuff we were bringing down pre-packing, but it really wasnt as bad as I was anticipating! I found it easiest to wrap all of my fragile items really well, using bubble wrap, paper and popcorn, then I put them in boxes, which then went in my luggage. I didnt have anything break, so it must have been sufficient packing!

As for the streamers/chair decorations, I laid them flat on the bottom of my suitcase and packed the starfish seperatly, then glued them on once I got down there. I dont remember my ribbons being wrinkly, but that could have been becuz the humidity dropped the wrinkles back out! You could always iron the ribbon if they get too wrinkled on your trip down.

I've heard great things about Claudia photo, and your picture looks beautiful, too, but unfortunately they're not ont he approved vendor list for EDR anymore :(

I didn't really want a train but the dress I loved had that gigantic one! It ended up being a non issue and looked great in photos. My wedding party and Citla helped me move it around for photos and then I had my seamstress add a bustle so when the cocktail hour started my sister crawled under the back of my dress(good sis!) and pinned it up for me. I was good to go dance the night away!

My dress has a chapel train, so we'll be futzing with it during the ceremony & photos. I'll bustle it for the recept too - though I don't envy my mom or friend who gets to crawl under my dress lol

We booked through our travel agent, but I just remember them saying to us/ telling us that we get a discount, so i was just wondering what it all was. I hope that its all the stuff you listed below once we book next year. We are either talking El Dorado again or Sea sides. Not for sure which one yet, but I guess we will decide more next year. :)

Good morning ladies!!!

Couple of questions for all of you and a little venting on my part cheesy.gif

When did you send out your actual invitations and how early was your RSVP by date?

What seemed like it was going to be a decent turnout has really kind of fallen off as everyone we seem to know has decided it's too expensive for them even though they were all on board when we booked it. So probably going to be a very small, intimate ceremony for us and just the dinner at their restaurant.....I am good with all of that, that's actually what I wanted all along but you know how it is when your parents get involved, they want you to invite everyone they know!!

So, here's my venting part. My FI lives in WV and I live in SC, no problem there but I have friends in both states. I actually graduated from high school in WV. One of my HS friends was actually instrumental in getting my FI and I together for all of this good stuff, so I asked her to be my maid/matron of honor. I only wanted 1 and she was so great when I was debating our relationship, so anyway it appears I made a great decision by asking her. My BFF here in SC was so excited about the wedding, couldn't wait to go to Cancun even if she had to go alone for a long weekend. I went so far as to plan my date around her final exams as she is a Professor at a local community college.

She went away on a cycling charity ride and came back to have this conversation with me via text:

"Would you be really mad if I didn't go to Cancun for the wedding? I've just been thinking about it and it's a lot of money."

I said of course not, I understand that it's expensive and we were hoping we could get someone to room with you to make it less expensive.

She then proceeded to tell me that if she was going to take a vacation that wasn't the kind of vacation she would take anyway and didn't want to spend that kind of money on a vacation she wouldn't enjoy. (She recently quit drinking and apparently thinks that's all there is to do there.)

I just said that I understood and it was no big deal.

Then she said that her and the group she was cycling with talked about biking through Italy next May and she would much rather do that!!

thatswck.gifI could not believe it!!!! So money was the excuse and then when it came down to it she just got a better offer!!!

Sooooo, I'm disappointed in our friendship and hurt and a little pissed off. I know I should just get over it, but DAMN!!!!

Oh and she wasn't even dating anyone and now she is engaged and getting married in May and going to Italy......

So, do I still send her an invitation or not bother wasting my time since my invites are messages in a bottle and a huge DIY project.

Ok, that's it for now.....sorry so long and drawn out. I think I'm still a bit in shock, how can that be a BFF??

sorry about that, I would still send an invite to her, but maybe nothing fancy if she is thinking about not coming. It's really sucky situation to be in, I was there as well with some of my friends, but on that day all you truly care about is you and him and who really cared to show up, you forget about everyone else. I know it can get frustrating, but just remember it's all worth in the end because you get to marry your best friend. :)
