We are specifically asking those who are traveling with us to not give us gifts. But we're also already living together and have a houseful of stuff, so we don't really need anything.

How did this all work for you guys?

We are getting married on November 5th, so a little over 4 months to go for us! I'm so ready...

Everyone who gave us gifts at the wedding stuck to checks or gift cards. We registered most of our items through Amazon in order to encourage guests to ship to our home instead of trying to lug a gift to Mexico.

Nikki - we had a similar experience regarding gifts! We invited approximately 100 guests and have only received 13 (albeit very generous) gifts so far. We certainly don't "expect" gifts from anyone, especially people who traveled all the way to Mexico to celebrate with us, but I did find it a little odd. Like you, my husband and I always get gifts whether we go or not. f we don't go to a wedding, we actually tend to get even bigger gifts to make up for our absence (unless it's a very close friend or family member, of course - another reason to splurge). Most of our close friends and family leave across the country from our home, so everything turns into a destination wedding for us. I know the rule is that you have one year to give the couple a gift, but in my experience, most couples' registries are quite depleted by the wedding date.

My husband and I make sure that if we get an invitation to someone's wedding, whether we go or not, we get a gift.

We invited over 100 people and got maybe 17 gifts. Thank goodness for my showers or we would be needing to buy almost all of our registry!

Did any other Mrs. have the same experience?... or was it just us? sad.gif

I cannot wait to get prints and frame these!

Beautiful photos! And I adore your chair streamers...such a great idea. Did you make them yourself?

We specifically asked our guests not to bring gifts. A few people got us cards with well wishes.

We did however have at home reception for a lot of friends/family who could not attend. Again we asked for no gifts, but were overwhelmed by the generousity of our guests.

Your pictures are great! I'd also like to know about your starfish chair hangers from your ceremony. I originally thought I would make these since I only need four to six but I recently found some on Etsy. Did you make yours and purchase them?

Thanks :)

My grandmother made our chair decorations. She just bought raffia and some colored ribbon at the craft store. I ordered 8-10 inch white finger starfish online and we glued them on once we got down to Mexico. SUPER EASY!

or you can give to someone else in the group that books through Wright Travel.

I agree! Super cute! Speaking of chairs I have a silly question regarding the chair covers and bows. Do you have to pay for them twice (at the ceremony and then reception?) With all the things I thought I wouldn't be charged on but am I wanted to double check this. Also my price sheet is charging me for my guest count chairs but what about the two for me and my FI at the reception? I'm afraid to ask my WC and that's something that makes me think I'll have to pay for all of them all over again for the reception.

I would hope you don't pay for them twice, but with Lomas, it's hard to guess.

I was told we'd have to provide enough chair bows for the ceremony AND the reception since we are bringing our own, that they don't move them from the ceremony to the reception. And we have 90 minutes in between.
