Laur13- I don't think that we're doing the BBQ Deluxe. I would like to, but I don't think that we have enough guests (don't you have to have a min. 30 people?). We only have 22. We're only having a private cocktail reception. Then probably doing the dinner at Cocotal.

It's awful. I'm less than two months away, and I still don't have my details lined out. (I feel like a bridal failure!) Because we had to switch resorts three months before our wedding date, it's thrown all of our plans for a loop.

We're having the Catholic ceremony in the chapel, but the only time that the priest can perform the ceremony is 1:30.......which is much earlier than I wanted my wedding. Now I have to get creative on how to fill the rest of the day, when I really just wanted a laid-back and fun evening with my guests after a later ceremony.

BTW, we're using Claudia Rodriguez for our photography, but it's actually her associate, Erick! They were the best of all the "approved" photogs, in my opinion. I think $2k for three hours is way too high...but I guess EDR pretty much has a monopoly on their property when it comes to choosing photogs.

A la Playa - I hate hearing that you are stressed and you feel like you still need to iron things out. Can we help? Do you want to bounce some ideas off of us and we can give advice or let you know what we're doing?

I want this to be a happy and stress free time for you. Ok well it's gonna be tough for it to not be stressful b/c I also feel the stress at times but we're here for you!!! We'll make it work!

Hmmm 1:30pm wedding. Maybe you guys could do a catamaran boat ride or something afterwards and then come back to party. That could be cool.

What are your colors? Have you chosen all of your decorations yet?

Hi al la playa!!

I'm with baglover we can help you with the details!!! I think the private cocktail reception will be perfect and then go right to the dinner. I was going to do the same until I had more people coming. What cocktail party menu are you having?

hmmm... 1:30 ceremony over by 2-2:15 maybe could you do a wishing shell toss and bring all of your guests down to the beach, hand out a shell or those smooth small stones and have someone read one of those cute poems (I googled one online and they have tons of poems for blessing stone/shell ceremony) and then have all of your guests make the bride and groom a wish and then everyone throws it into the ocean (cute photo opp. too). This will extend your ceremony a bit I would say 15 mins to make it more personal. (2:15-2:30 ish)

Then maybe everyone could meet up at one of the martini bars at the hotel (ask WC where) while you get a few pictureshuh.gif? 2:30-3:00

I love the catamaran idea I know they do have this available...maybe 3-3:30 ish to 5-5:30 (not sure how long these are)

Then have the cocktail party (private) when everyone gets off the catamaran 6-7 (maybe do first dances here??)

Lastly have the dinner at El Cocotal (I hear this takes awhile so plan on delays) 7-9:30huh.gif have your cake here

Anyone who wants to meet up for late night activities go to the Martini Bar (lobby) and or Guacamaya's (swing bar)....huh.gif

Just some thoughts let me know what other details I can help with :)

Lauren

You girls are so sweet! I love this site!!! I don't know where I would be without it.....Yes I do--I would be curled up in the corner in the fetal position right now! Ha!wink.gif

I did look into doing the cruise thing, but I was looking into more of a "yacht" type boat where my guests could walk around and mingle. I LOVED the idea of doing a cruise right after the ceremony as a cocktail hour, but I just didn't think that a catamaran was the right style boat. (I can just see my 83-year old grandma having too many cocktails and going overboard!) smile43.gif

My colors are fuschia and apple green with tangerine accents. I don't really have my decorations picked out. Other than what my TA (acting as wedding coordinator has suggested). I'm just trying to look at pictures that I can find and see what I like. How did you girls pick out yours? Were you given examples to pick from, or did you bring your examples and they gave you a price to make those?

Right now, my plan is to do the ceremony at 1:30. Since it's Catholic, it will probably take close to 45 min. Then we will do photos and have everyone either grab a drink on their own until the cocktail party starts at 3. I'm thinking of doing the White Glove Cocktail from 3-5 at the Health Bar. Maybe cutting cake then? Then giving everyone a break to go to their rooms to freshen up before dinner and having dinner at 6. After dinner we'll let the older guests do what they want, and then our friends, or whomever can continue to party at Guacamayas or whereever we take the party.

We're not doing traditional first dances, speeches, or anything like that. We have a small group, and we just wanted to keep it fun and spontaneous.

Your thoughts and suggestions are immensely appreciated!!! :)
